Title says it all. How can we reclaim Gilneas, say it belongs to the Alliance again, then not do the essential things that a capital city normally has? Bel’ameth, as neutral-esque as it may be, at least grants these three things.
I HOPE there are further plans, maybe in 10.2.6, to add a flight path, portal from Stormwind, and rested XP. If not, this is a big miss and will still make Gilneas feel like it’s not really part of the ongoing narrative. Most importantly is the Rested XP you get from any city. Finally, a portal. Slap it down by the Bel’ameth portal. A flight path would also be nice.
Again, this is a post born out of love. I do think this questline was short, but it should be a good first step in the right direction. If this is the definitive END of the Gilneas Reclamation, they need to hotfix a portal, and rested xp in quick!
(Edited to remove mentions of Inns, but I still think I have a fair point to raise here with the other three things)
My man didnt even explore Gilneas a little bit, he just logged onto the forums so he could be mad.
You can literally look out the door of the inn and see the chapel.
Also a second inn in Stormglen
Tbf I did explore, I’ll concede this point though as I honestly did not see the inn. Where did I also miss the flightmaster? Also the portal and the Rested XP? Please let me know.
Any capital city gives rested XP even outside of the inns.
Yeah… imagine the devs saying “Here, you have your home back after the Horde destroyed it. Have fun.” while not even putting in the bare minimum in form of a portal and a flight master… while at the same time giving the Horde a flight point in that zone, which is… decorated with Sylvanas banners. These devs sure are something else
Not really. Even after the flight path, it’s still not treated the same. Cities like Silvermoon have a portal in Orgrimmar, as well rested XP when you enter it.
Also, I hope one day, Goblins can do something about their capital. Kezan is destroyed to my knowledge, but I always thought claiming the Lost Isles could be fun (IIRC they’re still around, just far off. Which shouldn’t be an issue with portals around).
Darkspear Trolls are in a sticky situation because they’re relatively close to Orgrimmar enough that I think just a flight path is justifiable. Azshara is also just above Orgrimmar, but it’s technically at least not in Durotar like the Darkspear village is. I would compare the Darkspear Capital to Gnomeragon for the Gnomes. Two OG races who never started out in their actual capital, but have some form of their capital available to them now with the Cataclysm refresh. I think Gnomeragon and Darkspear village both neighboring Ironforge and Orgrimmar so much kinda defeats the purpose. But I wouldn’t be against a portal and rested XP there, too. I just understand that one a bit more.
Ok, I know what you’re saying now. I thought you meant their original Cata starting zones. And, you know what? Why shouldn’t Bilgewater Harbor have a portal and rested XP, too? It’s the racial capital of the Bilgewater Cartel Goblins!
My Worgen has been to Gilneas twice, the second time was to do this latest questline (my bad, it’s actually 3 times - I flew back within the hour of finishing that questline to fish up the spectacles).
While I would agree an Inn for rested and a Flightpath would be nice, why a portal? I have not played all races on Alliance side - or Horde for that matter, do all races get a portal? Gnomes etc I don’t think they do.
A portal is overkill and if you put that in, every race’s starting area should get a portal, and I highly doubt that is going to happen.
It’s less about it being a starting area, and more about it being a capital city of the Worgen. For example, Night Elves have a portal from SW to Bel’ameth, Dwarves have a portal to Ironforge, the Draenei have a portal to the Exodar, and the Allied Races have capital cities that are accessible from portals by the Embassy in SW.
The exceptions are the Gnomes, whose capital is currently not hospitable, and the neutral races who currently reside in SW.
does gilneas not at least have a boat? figure since they used to have a large navy, lore wise, they could manage having that if they don’t have a portal.
