Is the worst addon to have ever been added in wow
why is that?
go on, explain whether you’re disparaging the accessibility of game knowledge or accessibility itself
My best guess is it’s another case of getting into a LFG with a GSA user who plays reactively to whatever she says instead of using the information to make proper, informed decisions. That seems to be the case most of the time.
So, you know, bad players being bad but clearly it’s the mod’s fault.
Either way, part of the reason why I keep GSA updated is because I get a kick out of people bashing it, so it’s not going anywhere.
I don’t use lossa, but always thought visual addons are better. They provide the information faster and in a more easily digested format. Always seemed like the lossa hate was just due to how dumb it sounded as if some meme robot voice is coaching you as you play. Very easy to pick on, but the effectiveness is questionable in my eyes.
How can people play with that thing constantly screaming in your ear
Poly,poly,poly,poly,fear,fear,fear,fear,poly,fear,poly,fear
having been that guy who hated glossa for a few years, you’re right that it’s just an easy target
i get much more frustrated nowadays playing against people who, while they demonstrate no other awareness, very obviously use the OTK weakaura to tell them to come disarm me every time i use the cd it perfectly matches
It’s a case of different people processing things differently. My vision isn’t the greatest (it’s not BAD, but I can’t keep up with 6 different nameplates each telling me completely different sets information while trying to keep up with the state of the game and doing my part all at once.
GSA helps lessen the visual bandwidth required to succeed by letting your ears handle moment to moment events. I don’t have to stare unblinking at Gladius to know the split second a cast starts, so instead I can worry about things like DRs and health pools.
But yeah people who just autopilot their brains and just twitch press random buttons in response to whatever she says just aren’t good players, and that’s not the mod’s fault.
I have used weakauras for a while, but they have become very advanced now and have proliferated throughout the PvP community. I was watching someone stream and they had one bouncing on their screen to tell them to summon a Kyrian vial, then one popped up with a Submarine deep dive warning sound+big red visual text telling them convoke is being casted. I have been too lazy to find these and install them, but it’s definitely gone to another level recently.
the barrier to import has come way down but these things have been buildable by players with game knowledge since at LEAST mop 110%
i really think they’re toxic specifically to the gameplay direction blizzard has been visibly building the game toward for a long while now, with a focus on rewarding teams for playing on the same metronome much more than individuals for playing exceptionally using their unique tools, but i don’t expect the devs to ever formally outlaw them because there’s a very obvious peace treaty between the raid encounter designers, the addon/WA makers, and the general population that relies on boss timers and would have a much harder time doing any of the content in the game without it, and pvp isn’t important enough on its own to demand that kind of change. maybe when LAN events resume, but even then i kinda doubt it
Cdew gamers disarming you on Lordaeron, lol.
Idk who doesn’t trim poly or fear spam from lossa. Or big heal.
That would drive me insane.
Interesting. I actually didn’t even use addons except for recount until Legion. I started using weakauras then but only simple ones I can build myself. Basically visual icons for cooldowns I want to be more aware of that will show in the middle of my screen as opposed to on the characters nameplate. I thought there was some kind of recent advance in what these things can do but I’m probably just a potato in my knowledge of the addon.

this is an addon they actually specifically broke(the big circle reading the position and mechanical status of every player), but players have been pushing the limits of the info communicated by the base game for a lot longer than just legion and on yeah
lol that’s some advanced computing that addon is doing. Too bad it’s gone I could really use it for telling me when to press chill streak now
I have a problem with it because it’s definitely a crutch. Reminds me of the PvE players that use deadly boss mods or the addons that tell people which button to press next in rotations.
Problem with these addons imo is that they stop players from growing better and learning things on the fly. As opposed to someone who doesn’t rely on these addons and adapts by playing a lot will naturally become a better player. I have no proof of these claims but it makes sense to me
I really don’t understand this argument no matter how many times I’ve seen it.
It’s like everyone forgets that people have ears and that they’re a perfectly reasonable channel for sensing and processing information.
Again, it’s not the addon’s fault if people aren’t using the addon correctly. Bad players who don’t think about the current state of the game and just automatically press something in response to an audio cue are bad.
If someone is a perfectly capable player that understands other classes and the flow of the game, who also happens to process auditory stimulation better than visual, why are they suddenly worse players for shifting some of the information you’re getting told by Gladius away from the screen and into their headset?
It has to do with game awareness. If you’re just tunneling and waiting for an audio queue to occur before you press an action, you aren’t really progressing as a player to not tunnel.
A player with great awareness is going to know what the enemy is going to press before they even press it so the addon itself is pointless to an extent
Weakauras is way more broken
Gladiatorlossa just obnoxious
me. i’ve gotten many shears and groundings on an off target because of it ![]()
On topic; I use it because I’m far more of an auditory person than visual - same reason I use Big Wigs over Deadly Boss Mods for mythic raiding. More audio alerts make me more aware. it’s 500% personal preference. I can totally understand why people don’t like it or don’t want to use it, but I do.
HAVE to turn it off in bgs though lmao
The issue is that you’re mistakenly assuming that tunneling and using GSA go hand in hand. For some, it does, and those players are bad.
Someone tunneling is playing poorly. If they aren’t anticipating specific audio cues, that’s indeed a problem with the player. I’m in tune enough with my surroundings that I can keep GSA on in bgs and just filter out the noise that’s irrelevant to the classes I’m immediately fighting. I just need to ensure I’m watching their nameplate a little closer to make sure it’s the right player of the class I’m hearing.
I’m not really sure where this misconception that awareness is purely measured through visuals comes from, honestly. It’s kinda weird. Some folks don’t process GSA well and that’s perfectly fine, they have plenty of visual mods
