Give Worgen Tails (Part 1)

You would be trading darkflight for this, not resistance.

Wrong.

Darkflight is the worgen active ability. Night elf active ability is shadowmeld. This is also unbalanced in use, but there is more niche there so I left it out.

Their dps passive is 1% crit or haste dependent on time of day, which lines up with full time 1% crit.

They move faster while dead, which lines up with skinning skill and speed.

Their passive is 1% reduced nature damage and this. That means they traded 1% less shadow damage for for 2% dodge and 2% movement speed.

Plus movement speed while stealthed if you want to throw in how they beat out worgen for druids and rogues.

Excluding the profession/experience/other useless crap, most races get 3 racials. 1 for combat damage, 1 active utility button, and then 1 racial that offers some kind of resistance. Night elves, Gnomes, Taurens, really are the exception to this in that they get 1 extra. Night elves get quickness, gnomes get expansive mind, and tauren get endurance. The closest comparison to worgen is blood elf, who also have 1% crit as their combat racial. Dark flight and arcane torrent are the active, we get +15 and faster skinning compared to their +10 enchanting, and we get double resistance compared to just 1. Having double resistance costs us literally nothing.

You’re making cow’s point again with reworking racials.

You’re right, theoretically they could make a race totally immune to everything with bonus 100% to all stats, and worgen would be no weaker for it. It would substantially infringe on the balance between them though, which is what Cow and I were always talking about.

The “budget” has to do with how much racial power can you give, before that race is objectively better. Theoretically, they should be different but equal. 1% haste or crit. 1% reduced nature or 1% shadow damage. We are at least at the point now you finally agreed they are objectively un-equal, that’s as far as I really needed to get you.

I never intended to say there aren’t some flaws with other racial abilities, clearly there are. I’ll let people who play those advocate for themselves. :+1:

Dunno how you got to the conclusion that 3 races with an extra racial advantage means worgen need a racial rework but okay. As for the other races, they’re never going to be “equal” but they are equal enough that in pve you can play literally whatever race you want and still be competitive. The difference in most cases is negligible.

All core races but Worgen got racial fixes at the start of Legion. All including goblin, only Worgen didn’t get anything so after 10 years of the worst model in WoWs history it’s kind of easy to see how it looks like more being ignored. Same thing with our racial banner. The Gilnean symbol is rather unique and noticeable but in a number of places we get stuck with some dumb looking semi alliance looking banner rather than our own faction banner. It’s small things like this that hurt Worgen in terms of we feel quite neglected.

I’m late to the party but, yes, give them tails. I get why they don’t have them, so maybe just make it an option like pandaren get? Couldn’t be too hard to do.

This happened in wod when they removed hit and expertise. Racials like mace and sword specialization that granted expertise with a particular weapon were replaced, and races that had no combat advantage were given one. Worgen didn’t need a fix then and they really don’t need one now.

While I don’t agree nothing comes out of arguing over it so I will drop it. I just feel Worgen should get some love.

Much the same way players complained for years that their Blood Elf characters needed more customization options…like the blue eyes you’re currently sporting. Go figure, right?

If it’s there, yep, I’ll use it. But not once did I complain that there wasn’t blue eyes.

I think that illustrates why it’s important to ask for options in a constructive manner. You may not have asked for it, but someone did (some more politely than others), and it eventually got added as an option for everyone to use.

Most of us here are just asking to have tails as an option. I’m sure there are plenty of players that aren’t present here that would use the option as well should it exist. That’s the purpose of the thread; to let Blizzard know that we as players would like to see that option. I’d like to think most of us here are being civil in that request. Asking for something and offering input on what we would like to see isn’t really complaining that they “weren’t right”, it’s just offering feedback on additional options that could be utilized when done respectfully.

I don’t disagree with many of these changes being cool/wanted as options, since we’ve obviously seen people that won’t want them. I would definitely absolutely without a doubt like if they added tails to worgen! Some of the other things I’d also like, some I don’t care much (but I’m not against).

The reason I said it was a bit unreasonable is that Blizzard’s last touch on worgen was very recent. Unless they’re up to adding more customization options more often FOR ALL RACES (which I would like if they did), I don’t think they’ll just make an exception for worgen.

We should definitely keep asking, so they know what we want though. But my honest thoughts are that they’re only ever thinking about adding any of these is whenever they finally take the time for a next “customization update round”.

Btw, the mock up tail pictures are amazing!

The amount of new customization options they gave worgen was small and not in line with the other races. What they did was update the model, which was long overdue since the update for all other races with the launch of the pre WOD patch. This chart is from before the most recent addition to some of the allied races (which are now also above worgen), but it is accurate otherwise.

Made another one of these. I’ll probably end up with one for each race at some point.

A big issue with that thought, is the fact that Goblins got updated the same time as worgens, and they got double, no, triple, wait, quadruple the amount of new customizations as us, when they already had way more customizations than us to begin with. They got unique customizations at that like hair shapes, nose shapes and such.

All worgens got was just retextures. Fur color, and eye color. That’s it. If you’re a dk like me all you got was fur colors sadly.

Worgens are in desperate need of new customizations, now more than ever seeing as after they gave more customizations to the allied races, it ended up with worgens having the least customization options out of every single race.

I understand the demand and would really love more customization for worgen, since it’s my second favorite race. I wasn’t questioning the equivalence in options, but rather the fact that Blizzard has already done something for them. From looking at what they’ve been doing over the years, I think they’re not planning to do anything for races any time soon, although like I said, I think it would be extremely good if they did.

Still, even if they’re not going to do it in 1-2 years, whenever they decide to add more options, they need to know what is wanted!

Don’t get me wrong, I want my thoughts to be incorrect! I was just saying what my perception of how they do things is…

I think if they, for some reason, decide to do something, it’s not going to be a large update. From my perspective, if just tails happened before 2024, that would be a welcome surprise!

Sorry no tails allowed, blocks the view of all the cake :cake:

Regarding Darkflight, i’m more in favor to reduce its cooldown time rather than replacing it.
I see it as an emergency button to escape, especially when you play a class as static as a priest.

I have to say that it infuriated me when i discovered this.
Back in Legion i didn’t paid much attention to the banner as i assumed it was the Alliance banner.
But when they added the banners in the caverns of time during the WoW anniversary, i couldn’t belive that THIS banner is the official gilnean one.

It was even worse when you see it when you pick up the heritage armor quest.

What does it mean ? That Gilneas is a vassal state despite the fact that we are in an ALLIANCE ?
It takes away part of our identity and i hate it. Imagine if you put such a flag for every race of the Alliance, let’s see how many people will be happy to see this.

That is the point though. It isn’t the when that matters here, it is the how much. The model update was around a half decade overdue. By delaying it, they haven’t bought themselves grace time on bringing the rest of the options up to par, they are still way behind and should still be trying to catch up.

Worgen are the oldest “new” race along with goblins. Our options should exceed everything that wasn’t released with the original game. Instead we are behind all but a few allied races, in spite of being the 5th most played Alliance race.

While this is the tails thread, the options I’m speaking too are things like skins hair and ear styles. A skilled team could crank out enough of those to bring worgen more into line in a couple days. Some interns might take a week. This is basic stuff a college freshman designer could do. It doesn’t require someone who has been in the industry for a decade. They aren’t doing it because they decided they can get away with it. I don’t intend to let them.
