It wouldn’t be the first time they have gone out of their way to try and hide what people already knew.
Worgens and Goblins coming since only playable races had Halloween masks and they got them (and then they threw in a bunch of non-playable ones after to try and say it didn’t mean what it did)
Nearly player ready models for Vulpera before BFA fully released and a GM meeting people in beta or alpha as one, and the coverup ‘it doesn’t mean anything, we build all NPC’s like that now’ blue post (despite the multiple other things showing it was coming as well that were in wowhead speculation article, such as new brewfest drinks being added only for races that were allied races, except there was a Vulpera drink)
Etc…
I don’t understand. I was talking about lore, and this response seems to be about blizzard covering up allied races?
The post I was replying to if you click the replied post bit was not, it was about them doctoring the board game image in the blue post to not have a tail, despite the website selling the game, the email they sent about the game, and everywhere else showing it.
And I was just saying it would certainly not be the first time they have gone out of their way to cover up something after any kind of ‘leak’/datamine or evidence about something that was coming

Also, since Genn hasn’t had a tail in any of the cinematics, removing the board game tail makes sense for continuity.
Doesn’t de-confirm worgen tails as a possibility at all.

Ah I see now. Sorry about that, and thank you for clarifying!

So update on this…lol
Not sure if everyone heard the news but now every other color for female Pandaren have a long tail option.
-No lore explanation
-No outrage by Pandaren community
-Players asking for males to have option as well
We will now have Pandaren who previously did not have long tails, having them. There is now pretty much no reason Worgen should not have a tail option.

Honestly its good to have options so I’m glad the pandas got em now lets work on options for wolves.

I don’t want a floofy ‘paintbrush’ tail. Don’t get me wrong, yours is fine for a vulpes zerda like yourself…but ours should be straighter, and just a bit rougher…like the lean and savage predators we are.

idk I’m so used to us not having tails it would be kind of weird if we suddenly had tails imo

Except pandas could you know mate and have tails from genetics. If Male panda mates with female panda. Female panda has tail code then panda baby could have long tail with different fur. Opposed to panda mating with a gnome and making a mini tailed panda
That’s why we want it to be optional. If you want the look you have now I want you to be happy with the way you look. Just like I would like to be happy with the option of having a tail. We are not trying to force a tail on those who don’t want it.

It being optional might not be bad
Its what we are asking for all along. Those who feel they would like it can use it and those who don’t can be happy without. Options are always better and make both sides happy.

Yes! Give Pandaren (Male) Tails.
Tail option is good.
Let’s remember that until the realization of re-work, worgen was very limited in customizations, and can not be anything different from shades of gray.
Soon, we may have for our worgen, various types of colors and combinations of coat, scars, different colors for eye models, among others that we can still see emerge in the future.
Anyone who wants to keep their worgen with him this today, will have no problem with that.
With the addition of a tail to the list of options for customizations, it will be the same thing.
Some even want their worgen to be able to stay human during the fighting, choosing when it will transform, reducing worgen to a glorified GCD.
I don’t like the idea (because it’s the antithesis of the reason for choosing to be a worgen) but if it’s done as an option and not as a standardization, it won’t affect me how some choose to play with their worgen.
I don’t expect to see a tail for worgen during Shadowlands, but sometime afterwards, it would be plausible to see more options delivered if we now show interest in anything else to customize our worgen.

Here’s a pretty late response. ahem
Concept art also depicted night elves as blood-drinking savages whose women were telepathically controlled by their sleeping druid men. Concept art is called concept art for a reason.
They probably toyed around with giving tails to worgen but it looked strange on the model. Personally, I think the issue arises from the male model and its heavy upper body and much smaller lower body, while the female model would probably look fine with a tail. Imagine a male pandaren with a long tail. It’d be like someone just pinned it on there and would look out of place.
Regarding reasoning:
- Mechagnomes have undergone a societal shift where reverting themselves to a more mechanical state is desirable and also obtained the technological expertise to do so.
- Orcs have always had straight backs in lore and as special NPCs, just not players.
- Huln Highmountain got a blessing from Cenarius which propagated through all the Highmountain tribes.
- Night Elves got dark eyes from exposure to the Night Warrior transformation.
- Void Elves were “introduced” with Alleria, who has been able to have a non-voidy skin color from the onset.
- etc.
Another theory I’ve got is that the reason they don’t give them tails is to further separate “worgen” from “werewolf”. Many werewolves are depicted with tails. In addition to the odd number of fingers (4 rather than 5), something can be distinctively stated to be a worgen if it is lacking a tail and has 4 fingers, so it may be some way to claim that as their own, same as how Warcraft elves have super long eyebrows and ears. You see a blood elf, and you know it’s not from Forgotten Realms or Lord of the Rings.
But who knows?

Greetings Worgen.
Despite your belonging to the Alliance I consider you also my brothers and sisters through the Ebon Blade.
I support you having the option for tails. May Blizzard allow your request to be considered and hopefully fulfilled.
