Yeah I never understood people who keep on saying “want better gear, do better content”. Nobody wants better gear - everybody wants adequate gear for the random BG content. It’s the only content in the game where you are punished for playing it without doing harder content at the moment.
If I were to design the game I would make all gear downscale to max honor rank in random BGs. So that there is still gear progression, but at least you can reach the top of it doing random BGs. Then I would make conquest points into a “PvE item level upgrade from PvP activities based on rating”, so that players who earn high rankings got better gear in overall PvE sense.
This honestly could be done quite easily (on paper anyway) with how the current gear is set up. Gear could quite literally scale down or up to a certain ilevel. Whichever way you want to do it. The one thing I would like to see is say in random bgs, epic bgs and skirms is any PvP gear you have on just scales to a certain ilevel automatically. Like lets say 240 or something. That could work. Non PvP gear wouldn’t scale. But it would at least make it so even if it was just the 177 ilevel gear then you could still do random bgs for honor to upgrade them for rated stuff without getting one shot by rival and higher players.
Yes Yes Yes I totally agree with this…its very unfair for those just starting out…
lets enforce templates on all pve activity including but not limited to mythic raiding, this will even the score and place “skill” above the insane pve ilvls…
you must remember, its not fun to go into a mythic raid and get blown up immediately, why all the things running around in there just look at the undergeared toons and they just melt, its very unfair…and its just too bad that alot of individuals took alot of time, patients and headaches associated with gearing up a fresh toon because we the undergeared and helpless, “demand equality” and we better get it too or we will all come here on the forums and constantly complain and whine that life is so unfair.
Just do what WoD did. Whoever is below ilvl to not get oneshot at, got it boosted up, then you had honor gear and then you had conq gear. Boosted could compete vs honor and even beat it if the player was better, honor could compete vs conquest and even beat it if the player was better, honor vs conquest, conquest would always win if the players were equally skilled.
They could probably make something called victory points. Winning PvP instances award 1 victory point which would be spent (set number of points per piece of gear to upgrade a rank or so?) would make for more objective oriented gameplay. Mostly I just miss the 1 honor 1 conquest set - no hocus pocus.
This comparison doesn’t work though because you can’t just step into mythic dungeons or raids by accident. There’s a linear progression in PVE. You do Korthia, you do Normal raiding, you do Heroic raiding and then you work up into Mythic raiding if you’re able. There’s a clear path to doing the higher tier content.
The current system in PVP is not like that, at all. It’s like if you went into normal SoD and randomly the mobs were actually scaled to Mythic. That’s what it’s like now. You can’t even get your foot in the door.
Currently you have to raid normal SoD in order to have gear decent enough in order to do just casual random BGs, or do arenas in order to do random BGs. If we’re treating random BGs as the ‘starter content’ that you do to work up the gear and PVP knowledge to get into rated, why do you have to do rated in order to just have fun without being instantly smushed in randoms? It’s completely backwards.
IDK, but on every toon you post on you have zero Rating, where are these 1800 toons you speak of? So you are basically saying I am bad, cool I will be on Wednesday night come show me how silly and bad I am.
