Uh, well… there is this…
No threat reduction talents. (Mages get it in fire+frost)
No spell hit. (Mages get 6 from talents and 2 more from enchants.)
No survival skills in raids. (Mages get blink and ice block.)
Weak AOE vs Mage’s far superior AOE.
Shadow Ward is far less useful than Fire Ward. (They also get Ice Ward.)
Demon armor gives you health regen you don’t need and a resist that’s mostly unused. The Mage buff gives mana regen and all resist.
Everything you said is wrong. Feral is the second fastest lvler. Bears make great tanks. HOTW pvp spec makes a druid invincible. Sounds like you were just a bad Druid.
No offense but just sounds like you were a terrible druid at the time.
Druids are the second fastest levelers after Hunters. Extremely efficient, fast, tanky.
I mean at the time, I understand, but you don’t look for a piece of gear that can be both good for healing and feral. You look for gear that is good for healing, and other pieces good for feral.
Bears are hands down the best tanks for 5 man dungeon. As a future healer, I would take a druid any day over a warrior (fresh level 60 I mean). Better health pool, better resistances, better threat.
Druids in PvP are absolute beast (no pun intended). You will outlast almost every class if equivalently geared.
Couldn’t care what ‘cons’ there is for my class as long as it feels like I’m actually playing Warrior again, unlike whatever Legion/BFA had me playing.
I realize all of that NOW, but back in the day nobody knew those things. I leveled as resto-balance using moonfire and smacking things with a taran icebreaker and back then thought that was a good way to level.
Uhh I think you’re forgetting how broken fear is, especially in 1v1 situations. As long as you bait out the interrupt, you will just chain fear and laugh as the dots tick away
The disadvantages of being a Mage. Everybody is always thirsty for what I have. And they always want to use my portal holes. They get upset anytime I won’t saying “Don’t ice block me bro!”.
As a Hunter, I’m incredibly glad that I get my RPG mechanics back, but I know…
I just KNOW
I’m going to run out of ammo during a dungeon or raid at some point, all it takes is to forget one time. I’m going to look sheepish as all hell, be ridiculed and possibly kicked.
I have all these wonderful pets to choose from but there’s an expectation that I can only use a specific type of pet or two in any given mode of play. More ridicule to follow to someone who just wants to use his raptor.
I’m going to be fighting an uphill battle if I want to raid in AQ40 or Naxx. I’ll be told I’m trash tier and should have just picked a mage. Maybe I should have? I like Mage well enough.
TOO BAD, WALUIGI HUNTER TIME!
I realize that I’m going to be using Tranq Shot as a crutch to get in raids, no matter how well I play my class. But that’s all the chance I need. No matter how bad my damage is, despite my auto shot weaving and gear, they can’t do jack without my tranq shots.
Also this is more of my own paranoia but I’m going to be pretty miffed if the BWL Crossbow gets picked by a warrior or rogue if only for some prior beef they had with their own weapon taken by a different hunter, even if it was all the way back with Dal’rends or something.
You’re very right. Hunter has a few tricks up his or her sleeve in melee combat, especially in PvP. I’m talking mostly about PvE, though, where I’ll get the old stink eye if they catch me Raptor Striking the boss.
Baiting out the interrupt with spell batching isn’t anywhere near as good an option as it would be on live. You fake fast and can get kicked even after your cast ends, and then depending on spec, can be 100-0d during the lockout given how much faster vanilla pvp is.
There’s also things like black smith trinket which I don’t believe saw usage during the tournaments given a flat 30 second immunity… Granted, it’s not impossible to survive even with those concerns, and you are correct that fear (and warlocks in General) are incredibly powerful but it isn’t always so cut and dry.
