From what I’ve seen half of the people asking for glad stance back don’t even care about that, they just want the aesthetic.
Okay, so first, let’s remember what Glad Stance was. It was a kludgy experiment that was never the most balanced and existed for all of one expansion. So it’s not too surprising for it to be consigned to the dustbin of history along with things like the Demo Warlock tank glyph and DK tank/dps hybrid specs.
Now let’s look at the changes from WoD to Legion. One of the pillars of Glad Stance was converting Bonus Armor from a tank stat to a DPS stat, and Bonus Armor was being removed from gear. Also Legion was bringing in Artifact Weapons with spec specific talent trees, and trying to turn the Prot Artifact Weapon into a DPS weapon would be a nightmare.
So there’s just a surface check of some of the major events.
I feel bad for the devs some days. It must make it really difficult to experiment knowing that every failed experiment is going to have at least one fanatic howling on the forums for it to return until the end of his days.
It pops up fairly frequently on the reddit forums as well.
If Glad Stance came back I would roll Prot 100% of the time. Glad stance for fun stuff and Defensive stance for serious stuff. More tanks for the queues where it matters. Blizzard please!!
Defensive stance for serious stuff.
Thankfully with today’s technology you can experience Defensive stance as an arms talent.
Incredible I know.
I actually havent even swapped to prot since wod or kept up with its changes. Did prot lose stances entirely?
Did prot lose stances entirely?
Stances are basically no longer a thing for warriors. Arms Warriors alone can talent into ‘Defensive Stance’ which gives significant damage reduction at
the cost of damage dealt. Does not affect ability usage at all either way.
Yup, this was awesome. The problem was that it was too strong, they had to nerf it multiple times because of pvp, it seems they couldn’t figure out how to balance it so they scraped it.
If you want to see my glad play w/ Thunderfury in WoD…
I think they said they like the idea, it just took too much effort and resources to balance… and the gameplay was too shallow. How do you make a tanking spec with defensive cooldowns into an offensive spec on par with other offensive specs without the gameplay being watered down.
They just need to make Warriors the 2nd class with 4 specs… and give a Sword & Board DPSer the respect it deserves.
I’m all for Gladiator Stance returning, even if it requires adding a 4th spec, which I don’t EVER see them doing. Personally, I would like to see stance dancing return… but that’s just me. The ability to outplay the opponent was amazing! A Warrior is a skilled combatant trained in all types of weaponry. I will forever believe stance dancing was the pinnacle of warrior design, it took time to master. See, that’s what a warrior is - many hours spent training to be the best he can be! I understand it was difficult, especially for new players. They should’ve added a warning to the warrior class before allowing it to be played, call me crazy. Die hard WARRIOR here.
What you mean! Glad Stance was so much fun! All 5 butons in the rotation made it feel amazing! I had a shield! and a 1h!
Alternate idea that has come to mind recently for me is to work gladiator into Arms. Run as either a new talent or in the same style as SMF. Switching out Slam for Shield Slam. As an added potential to the style allow for the use of 2h and Shield. There are a few NPC guards in the game that are in this style mainly SW guards and to an extent SM as well so why not players.
Updoot for vanguard spec Keep at it yall want it back in the game too seperate spec if it has to be dont want it baked into arms
I said it before and ill put it here. Bring it back as a PvP Talent. That way its no longer able to be used in Mythics or raids. It no longer needs to be balanced for PvE. It also removed the talent from Prot warriors. It doesnt need to be build as a brand new spec. It only needs to be tweaked for bg’s and open world PvP.
Have it so when they put on glad stance it cannot be swapped in or out in combat for 10 seconds. When in glad spec they lose all threat and some tanking cooldowns. It swaps some of the tanky abilities to dps where it increases its damage.
This would be the easiest and cleanest way to implement Glad stance.
If I recall, Gladiator Stance was a way for a tank warrior to be able to switch to dps without needing a weapon swap. It’s overperformance in Highmaul and subsequent nerf left it fairly rare through the rest of wod. Blizzard most likely saw that flavor/convenience talent being underutilized and just got rid of it.
Personally I would love for warrior to be more versatile in what weapons it can utilize. We see Single Minded Fury showing up for testing on the beta and its baseline to boot(though fury currently doesn’t have 1 handers on its loot table yet).
it was a fun spec people just want but guess that is askin too much to have fun in the game also be cool to just have it come back with you using a spear and shield to make it more different than just a wep swap
Please Blizzard! It would be so fun to have a warrior dps with sword and shield, like a footman.
Gladiator would have to be redesigned for it to come back, but I am ok with that. I know things like bonus armor does not exist anymore, which is why it should be a 4th spec with its own unique requirements and mechanics.
I’d like for it to focus on spear/sword with a shield, with an emphasis on using the shield as a weapon when the opportunity comes. It would be warrior with reach/ mid ranged capabilities with the spear. The spear could be thrown or used to keep enemies away, and they would use the sword for closer ranged melee should the need arise. The battle between Hector and Achilles is a great example of what I want.
Showing support for sword & board dps.
Don’t care if it is:
~gladiator stance
~4th spec
~arms has options to do competitive dps this way
~other
You said everything! Look at this, Blizzard!
