Because at the end of Wrath Blizzard wanted to tone down the number of DKs and didn’t make Shaodwmourne a DK only weapon.

It was crafted, nevertheless, by a Death Knight, with the knowledge of rune forging.

Again confirming that the Primus dosnt need to create another. Also confirming that a non DK class can also weild a mourneblade but remain a non DK, also lets revisit the fact a non DK created a runeblade in Felo’Melorn.

Except the sword it resembles being by far the most iconic DK weapon to have existed and that sword being loaded with history and nostalgia even outside of the game. Owning a copy of the Lord of the Rings doesn’t suddenly make the memories associated with the movies or books any less meaningful.

This isn’t a very good analogy since literally anyone can get a copy of the lord of the rings from pretty much any library or book store.

I wouldn’t need to. Primus would see me wearing the blades of the fallen prince, say that this sword used to represent the evil but that knowing my deeds and everything I did to stop Zovaal he would trust me in restoring the blade to its former power.

Nah, Primus would look at it and be glad that it had been sundered and that the mortals had found a way to repurpose it.

Yeah the lore is ultimately irrelevant. Blizzard could make it however they want. They could have Anduin crap it out during his morning dump. Which would be on par for blizzards use of poo jokes. So I’ll concede that point.

Though I’ll still maintain that they shouldn’t make them somehow a unique item that is like a one and only weapon. Since special snowflakes are typically frowned upon. The rest of the iconic weapons have no lore reason anymore to being exclusive. Since they were all drained to deal with a giant sword, reducing them to mundane weapons. There’s no goof reason to keep them locked beyond class fantasy. Which to me is a weak argument, due to the fact that weapons are honestly an insignificant part of class fantasy.
