The only problem is it’s also really unpopular - that’s with the status quo of them being unplayable. It’s just not a winning situation for them, otherwise it would have happened a long time ago.

Can we please stop with this inane “but muh only light powered Sunwell” argument?
No, Belf NPCs get golden eyes not because of the Sunwell perse (light apparently only makers easier to erase fel and leaves a blank slate) but because they´re “very much devoted” A.K.A. light zealots.
Personally I rather prefer this… leaves more space for other eye color options for Belves (for example and regardless of how much I despaise Valeera Sanguinar… she did get purple eyes on the comics thanks to a magical artifact. Maybe other different eye colors can be implemented using this narrative; just not blue for faction aesthetic exclusivity.

And no, high elves have blue eyes, blood elves don’t, you’ll live.

How about ANY eye color for ANY race because wow is 15 years behind every other game on simple customization options! 
Lore is a sad + lazy excuse for wow to not offer a huge array of character customization.
Its so obvious ,I’m surprised people don’t call them out on it more often. Everyone gets wrapped up in “pretend” lore reasoning, when in reality, wow dev are thrilled because they can take the lazy way out and use it as an excuse to deny 99% of requested customization that 99% of other games have had for decades.

That doesn’t make sense. The Silver Covenant has been banished from Silvermoon, why would they be affected by the Sunwell?

Nope Blood elves evolved from having blue eyes. That means they aren’t High elves anymore. But please be ignorant some more.
One of the defining traits of all high elves is that their eyes reflect the magic they are exposed to. As such having green and gold eyes is confirmation that they are high elves.
Of corse lore wise all High Elves should have had white eyes when the sunwell was destroyed as we saw with the BE forces in WC3.
P.S. If your hair changed color does that mean you are no longer human?

Ion said they evolved. They evolved. They are not the same as they once where because they evolved. Evolution has a very straight meaning.
That’s like saying when Pickachu evolves to Raichu it’s still pickachu. It’s not because it evolved from what it once was.

They won’t be. However, if a high elf is especially devoted to the light, I see no reason why they couldn’t have golden eyes, given it comes from the -light-, not just the sunwell per se. As such, I have to support playpen’s request with the following caveat:
It should be an option for any species aside from void elves. Solely for them does it make zero sense whatsoever.

Evolution isn’t just biological and you do not biologically evolve like that (since the very definition of biological evolution is the change across subsequent generations). Also lol at trying to bring pokemon into this.

Again, no they do not. Feel free to bring up pokemon as if that has any bearing to anything in WoW. Want to bring up starwars? You know how the dark side makes people look different? Clearly they evolved!
