Goodness, me too! Jeremy Feasel did have some interesting things to say about questing in Nazjatar:

In patch 8.2, we will put a lot of new features into place. But the story must follow and be coherent with what we want to do. One of the features we want to develop is an escort system. As you’ve seen, we’ll have new friends, sea giants, gilblins, etc. We’d like players to be able to bring them with them, have them gain levels and discover their story. In fact, that gilblin isn’t any gilblin. He has a story that you’ll have to discover in the time spent in Nazjatar. We want to create quests bound to specific characters, chests, all of that, to relate the story of these characters. For me, pieces of lore can really be a reward for doing something correctly in game.

Unfortunately, since we’re not really working with a full racial group, I’m not entirely convinced it’ll lead to them joining us as an allied race. It seems like the story, at least on the Horde side, is going to be more character-driven instead.

I think it’s going to be fun, but I’d love to see playable gilblins in some form one day!

It’s a place I’ve wanted to see for a long time, and I’ve always wondered how they’d do it–especially after the response Vashj’ir got.

I have to say, from what we saw anyway, I think it looks wonderful! I love how fresh and bright it is, it’s a cool contrast to the usually wicked-looking old gods and their servants. I’m sure Azshara’s palace will be plenty foreboding, anyway!

Yes, also an allied race gone wrong; This is why they will never be one. You don’t take a niche, not very popular, race and then make it into a an Allied Race. You take an insanely possible one like Night Elves and Blood Elves, then you make those into an Allied race for the opposite factions.

You take a crazily successful race like Draenai, then you make that into an Allied race. Lightforged were so similar to regular ones, that I don’t even see the point.

Then I think Dark Iron Dwarves, Tauren and Zan Trolls were Allied Races they assumed would get numbers because of the “cool” factor.

But I don’t see a “GillGoblin”, or even a “MechaGnome”, doing this. People have to REALLY like those races in the first place, requesting possible Barbershop changes and so forth, before you’d see them as an Allied Race.

I would play a gilblin in a heartbeat!! Only issue is that I’m also head-over-heels for Zandalari and Vulpera, so it’s gonna be a ride deciding which class I’ll make for each. XD

Seeing a lot of people put down the race simply because goblins are “unpopular.” The only reason people don’t play goblins is because their starting zone is a hellish nightmare to drag through. Their looks/aesthetic have nothing to do with it… unless if the player is just really shallow.

…Perhaps there will actually be more gilblins running around than actual goblins!!

Oh yeah I guess that does give an allied goblin race more of an advantage, I forgot that there’s a way to glitch out of the worgen zone :o

It would be wild seeing a bunch of gilgoblins running around orgrimmar, splashing and leaving puddles everywhere xd

I support you and Vulpera too. I hope we all get what we want. And more lore is coming up in your favor too, so you have that to look forward to!

I’m not particularly interested but I would play one if they got the mecha/tinker class. i would very much like them to have a personality entirely different than land-based gobbies (make 'em kinda dark or gritty or whatever, just different… like water life is tough).
