Gilgoblin Allied Race suggestions/discussion

I got to thinking something earlier. If Gilgoblins do become an allied race, im sure we would all love a racial that allows them to breath underwater and give them increased swim speed.

But… how would Blizz do this? Us Forsaken already have the underwater breathing racial, and the Kul Tiran’s have a racial that gives them increased swim speed/breath

Maybe Gilgoblins will get something water related, but completely different from the already existing water related racials. Water walking racial anyone? :stuck_out_tongue:

Gilgoblins definitely seem like they should have at the very least, extended breathing time in water.

Melee: Biting with shark-like teeth.

Snare: Throwing a net or spear.

Water ranged attack: They have water magic.

Gilblin mentioned these in his thread. I like these ideas. Gilblins are somewhat iconic for their weilding of survival hunter esque spears.

Yeah. I’m honestly hoping that they just steal the already existing underwater racials and get them combined. It would fit the race anyway, stealing a racial is definitely a thing I could see a Gilgoblin doing  And if not, I think a water walking racial would be sweet! But possibly a bit too useful to be a racial.

Yeah, I have read these. They’re very good ideas. I can see the bite one having a DoT bleed effect baked in with it, which would be very neat!

Not completely sure about water walking, since it would kinda sidestep the point of their modifications. Maybe something castable, like instead of having a passive water breath you can cast your racial and replenish your oxygen (and maybe also have a swim boost?)

So that’s why undead lost water breathing for a while :o

I love everything about what you just said.

I also raise ‘References to Atlantis: The Lost Empire.’ because that movie is great and Disney did that series dirty.

They need total underwater breathing and an active racial that increases swim speed for a period of time. Like a rogue sprint for swimming, or the watergliding jets engineering tinker.

I wanted Gilgoblins and Mechagnomes. The problem is the mecbagnomes blizz came up with are not the ones I envisioned. The ones I liked are pure robots. The cyborg mechapunk metal limbs arent exactly what I like. Especially since they have what the gnomes have whivh I dislike. Not much variane in skin tones and weird facial structures. The robot body and features would have been a way to improve gnome skeleton. I would be dissapointed if those gnomes became playable.

The gilblins so far look great. They just need a few more skin tones like red and orange like the obes in Azshara in Legion and the Cata zone.

I just hope that blizzard doesn’t end up caving to popularity of Vulpera and recognizes that there are a lot of people that would legitametly love this race. It would be nice to have both. Kind of wish that there didn’t have to be this fight for one AR spot.

I think there is room for both. The night elf male skeleton for example is getting alot of use. Night elf, nightborne , zandalari, and Jinyu use it, so the 8.2 alliance race may use night elf and maybe worgen animations if it becomes an allied race.

No there really isnt.

You have 47 posts from the same guy in this thread, 28 from another guy, 24 from another guy. Its the same 5 ish people bumping this thread all day, every day. A mod should step in.

If different people want to post and chime in, hey thats great. But its the same few delusional people…over and over.

Why does it have to be a competition >< I hope you folks get Gilgoblins but I also want Vulpera and would actually roll one, whereas I won’t roll a gilgoblin.

That still doesn’t stop me from wanting both for the benefit of all. There shouldn’t be any sort of idea of “caving”, it’s about story and passion for the races people ask for. I believe there’s plenty of ways to get both.

Edit: In both threads though I’m either the second (in Vulpera) or third( here) most common poster rofl.

I’ve said this before in another thread and I’ll say it here. Just because a megathread only has a few posters does not mean people don’t want the race playable. Heck, megathreads aren’t the ultimate measurement of seeing how wanted a race is for that matter, and yes I realize that could work both ways.

There are a lot of people that play WoW that don’t even come to the forums and there are other websites with forums that have people talk about wanting a specific race as well. It would be fairly complex to get accurate statistical data short of Blizzard just opening an official poll in-game or on their website to vote for a most wanted or a batch of most wanted races.

As it is, right now, unless we get datamine info, there…really isn’t a lot to talk about in any of the megathreads. Once stuff is found, though, then the megathreads of those specific races will likely get a lot of traffic and activity. Until then, most of them are general talking and speculating about said race while offering some feedback to show that people want them. Some people just post in it once and never go back while others do keep conversations and such going. It doesn’t make one race’s megathread better or worse than others, in my opinion, and Blizzard likely is aware of each one, and if they’re getting feedback from them, they will have gone through them and will keep an eye in some form on them.

That said, it really isn’t practical to view races other than the one you want as competition. It’s not healthy, and really doesn’t do anything but just cause arguing. If Blizzard is getting feedback from these threads, I doubt they’ll pay much attention to those just yelling at others.

Best case scenario is that we get both Gilblins and Vulpera. I’ll happily roll both and will likely enjoy the storylines that lead up to both joining. ^^

Tbh my expectations were low to begin with, so some natural opposition doesn’t really bother me since in the end nobody confused my thread for a parody like I feared lol

Yess I want both. I kinda like that idea that meshes all of ours: gilgoblins and junker gnomes, and then vulpera with something like sethrak.

I’d be really interested in this AR. I love my goblin. I’d probably keep my hunter a normal one as she’s more engineering themed, but I’d race change my Rogue to one of these guys.

This is how I really want to believe it is. I think the issue lies in the fact that both Gilgoblin and Vulpera supporters tend to see the Gilgoblin and Vulpera as competition for the same spot. IE the goblin allied race. I firmly believe that blizzard will stick to races of the same racial type for ARs. However to be quite honest, I think people got a little bit too hyped for Vulpera a bit too early while forgetting that there was another big part of the expansion ahead and… Who knows what will happen next expansion. Could no races or ones we haven’t seen yet.

If Blizzard is getting feedback from these threads, I doubt they’ll pay much attention to those just yelling at others.

Ya know. I love debating and speculating about allied races, but I am going to try a change of pace for a bit. Less going around the forums trying to deconstruct anti-gilgoblin arguments and more just trying to promote it and discuss some potentially good ideas for it.

Be sure to mention this in the Vulpera discussion Megathread too because they have few folks in the thread that are responsible for about a few hundred responses each and they are the ones that really think that popularity+high post count means it will happen.

Goblins are great at promotion!

The whole thing that got me to start speaking up about this whole thing to begin with was people saying that nobody wants Gilgoblins and rather nasty opposition. Ever since legion I’ve been excited for the possibility of a goblin allied race. However when I saw Vulpera. They just don’t have all those things that I fell in love with goblins about. And I think the idea of a Gilgoblin could be really neat if done right. I wish some of these Vulpera diehard fans would cut it out with the Lynch mobbing though. I don’t hate Vulpera, but would really like Gilgoblins to happen.

It’s what I try to do with Ogres. Don’t get me wrong, it can get tiresome to get the “Noone wants smelly Ogres!” arguments, and arguing with everyone who is against Ogres at a certain point just becomes very tiresome and feels unproductive. Makes me feel bleh and negative.

I don’t have the magical answer here, but all I can say is just keep your head high and show off support as best as you can. It’s all you really can do to try to have some form of feedback. Honestly, thinking about and typing up scenarios and such for Ogres is still a lot of fun for me, so maybe it’s something you could do for the Gilblins. As I said, I’m sure there are some interesting things you can do with them. ^^

Let me ask you another question. How much of a difference do you think these allied race mega threads really make and do you think popularity really factors in much?
