Gilgoblin Allied Race suggestions/discussion

A lot of people who say that they wouldn’t play Gilgoblins right now, probably would if they added bioluminescent hair as a custom option. Plus it is something potentially quite plausible for the race. Tact this on and if they can be druids, there would be a lot of people who would roll them. I would switch one of my goblin rogues to Gilgoblin if they came out.

Ya know there was something I was thinking which is really interesting. Both Gilgoblins and Mechagnomes are the result of races taking racial professions ie alchemy and tinkering to the extreme. Heck. Gotta admit that’s a cool combo when you realize how they counter each other.

I really wish my hair could glow green. Fel green glowing hair would be so neat.

Gnomes don’t worship anything and are somehow able to be Priests if my knowledge of their lore is correct.

And it is a similar case with Goblins. Now given the background of Gilgoblins and where they reside, it seems even more likely to me that they would be priests in some form and definitely shamans. Shamans is one of those classes that really fits goblins.

Mr. Crabs anyone? I picture Gilgoblins having a personality similar to this guy.

Gilgoblin theme!

Some people say it’s an odd matchup, but I think they’re confusing shamans with druids. Shamans are simply individuals who harness or bargain with the chaotic forces of the planet; it suits goblins very well.

Interestingly there is Makura with the Gilgoblins in the unshackled. Crab people, fish people sea giants. It totally see how it fits.

Much of the time, they just don’t get the lore. Goblins were very shamanistic from their early days. Especially since they were around trolls a lot.

That would look SOOOO good on a Gilgoblin. It just occurred to me how nicely shaman and mage mogs would go with Gilgoblins.

This is a great point! Now I am convinced that it must happen :slightly_smiling_face:.

I need to start binge watching Sponge bob square pants again. If Gilgoblins do become a thing, I bet there would be some sort of Mr. Krabs reference showing up soon or later.

Ugh. I reaction emotes would be nice here.

Here are some of my ideas. Been wanting gilblins since cata. I remember suggesting them back when subraces are a thing.

Classes. All the goblin classes except dk. Maybe druid in its place. Monks too.

They are regaining intelligence. The bilgewater made them. So they would work as bilgewater cosmetic unlocks as well. They also might be underwater seems of kajamite that makes them and other species such as the makrura smarter.

They are a new race born on an ambitious race. The seas have a lot of territory to be conquered!!!

Able to make deals with underwater races. Not all of them are familiar to the surface dwellers.

Able to harvest dangerous resources underwater. Have a lexicon of new plants materials and magics that work underwater. Maybe discover undersea caves and facilities to other worlds?

I liked some of the cosmetic options. Bioluminescent hair would be cool, fishnet stockings, some shells or starfish as decorations, wearing an octopus on your head as a hat. Maybe a highly mutant gene that allows them to have camoflauge affects, or regrow limbs.

Some of them may find the temple of the shark loa, Gral and start worshipping him. The temples sunk in Zandalar. That loa could give them new powers like being a druid. Shark travel form? Yes please.

They can make underwater cities and include bioshock references.

They can give us a ton of underwater/3d minigames.

Underwater breathing with increase movement speed like the toy from cata timewalking.

Give the horde access to water technology. Compared to the fire themes that the dark iron bring to the alliance.

Discover unique biochemiatries and aquatic fauna that can be used in war. Ex. Electricity/plasma from underwater creatures.

Atlantic references of the ancient myth.
Underground/underwater tunneling to defeat enemies via sinkholes.

USO references. Unidentified Submerged Objects.

Tortollan frienships via future allied race. Seems we have a tortollan with the Zandalar future race connections would work well as aquatic units.

Underwater tech could mean unique mount equipment slots such as fast underwater swimming. Although the system needs to be improved to include more then one slot upgrade per character in the future.

Yesss I posted a Bioshock gif earlier as an example. A setting like that would be absolutely awesome with goblins and gnomes. Gilgoblins carry that genetic mutation theme, wheras junker gnomes (and well…goblins and gnomes in general) represent the technological aspects. It could be so creepy and cool :o

Yea bioshock like architecture and underwater acropolises may make them unique culturally. Underwater tourism would be a nice questing set up. Underwater zones could be made, lots of real estate underwater given your ability to tangle with underwater animals and monsters. I could imagine a daily where you fend of the local giant squid annoying and killing the toursits. As far as scifi and comedic relief I think they can make an excellent addition to the horde. They were birthed by a scientists. I can see them going the scifi route.

Along with the fact that Hobart has stated that he is working on a formula to produce super intelligent Gilblins, there is also a possibility that Gilgoblins could have regained their intelligence somehow. Droite said earlier that it took goblin generations to gain intelligence like they have now from Kajamite. However this also means that they haven’t lost their intelligence due to lack of Kajamite. What if their intelligence is just temporarily hampered or latent within them? Ya know what I mean. Gnomest also brought up the idea that Gilgoblins don’t necessarily need to be smart to be an appealing race, but they could be goblins with a more magical affinity yet still retain the money loving nature.

They know the depths better than we do. This is partly why the horde has to ally with them when we get to Nazjatar.

That sounds amazing! I really hope blizzard does this. I am going to continue bringing this up as an idea as time goes by.

Gilblin is full of good ideas.

Absolutely love the game!

Makes me wonder. What would the tortollans of Nazjatar be?

Right. Lets hope mechagnomes are water proof… or not

Atlantic references of the ancient myth.

Probably is going to be a lot of Easter eggs. Was mentioned before about Mr.Krabs also being a likely Easter egg somewhere if they became a thing.

I could also see them get strangled by some garbage the bilgewater throw in the water starting a little comedic rivalry about garbage with the other goblins. Goblins throwing garbage in the land vs goblins doing it in the water lol. Till they have a garbage war minigame.

We’ll just throw our trash into mechagon

That can be tge thing they say after they resolved the minigame xD.
