Gilblins as new allies?/The Unshackled?

that isn’t how it works. They are separate models in the files. they would require more work than vulpera and I just don’t see gilbins happening anytime soon. Compared to vulpera they are not popular enough and blizzard will follow the money.

I know for a fact that the model can be copied with all of the data. I mean I figured this would be obvious.

the model isn’t even the issue really they need expanded customization and HD textures. That is all the goblins and worgen are getting. No actual model changes. unlike the first 6 races of the game worgen and goblins were the first to used the new universal skeleton that all races now use. The WoD update is what brought the first 6 to this new skeleton.

The goblin models are already packed with plenty of custom options. They just need a retexture mostly and the goblin model updates are already in plans. In the case of Vulpera, more shapes AND textures need to be added.

I just don’t see it. comparing the models it looks like gilbins need more work and would be vastly less popular.

They don’t. They just really hate furries and don’t want Vulpera.

Gilblins have no personality other than being slightly dumber more slave-themed goblins.

Hang on. Nazjatar isn’t even out yet. We are going to be meeting Gilgoblins that aren’t hostile to us. And besides. I’ve said it before many times. There is no other aquatic race right now and I think their textures look amazing. They also have glowing blue eyes and teeth and a very lurking in the depths vibe to them. I really want them to be playable.

Here come the Gilgoblins and Mechagnomes, an Aquatic race for Horde and a mechanical race for Alliance

I said it before and I’ll say it again, just because they are unpopular doesn’t mean they are out for the AR list, especially for people who actually want to play them.

Gilgoblins, and Mechagbomes maybe unpopular sure but neither are lightforged, HM, and Kultirans

Ooh I want vulpera too

It’s too bad that people dismiss them simply as furry material, the idea of a tiny animal hero sounds straight out of a classic fable

I think Vulpera would be a nice race too personally, but I’d much rather Gilgoblins considering how the AR system has been played so far. Plus I really love how they look. A lot of people don’t quite give Gilgoblins the credit they deserve on the matter.

these races however wouldn’t have much of a fanbase at all though. I wouldn’t expect them to surpass 1%

And I am guess by that logic, you would rather goblins weren’t even in the game to begin with. Probably gnomes too. There is a lot of people who’d rather goblins and gnomes weren’t even in the game to begin with. I tell you that much.

actually no. I like goblins and I love gnomes. those 2 races are not niche. they are comparable to most races in the game.

Assuming the purpose of AR’s is to drive further engagement on existing accounts, both Fishlins and mechgnomes seem like wastes of Blizzards time though the ship has sailed, if it’s sailing. Gnomes/Goblins are the two least popular races.
I do think the Vulpera being the Panda AR makes sense.

People who think with that kind of logic are the kind of people who’d rather goblins and gnomes weren’t even in the game to begin with. And possibly pandas too. There are so many reasons why Gilblins and mechagnomes would be great as an AR and potentially work. One of the big things though is that people have been exposed to Vulpera more lately and interacting with them. As Nazjatar and Michigan is around more Gilblin and mechagnome supporters will come out.

I get that you like these choices. You play one of the least popular races so I’m sure you’re excited about new skins. That’s cool. What I’m saying is…the purpose of AR is to keep people grinding. Keep those monthly active users numbers going. Keep people doing the same wq over and over to get a new reputation to max
Having two new races with mass appeal would have been a better step than two new races with niche appeal.
But maybe the average wow player grinds those out regardless? I haven’t unlocked all the allied races…there’s not enough compelling about them for me to go do another round of WQ and table adventures to worry about them. I could be in the minority. Regardless I’m happy for you that you’re excited about these new ar choices.

I want those naga type guys with legs for an allied race that the Alliance help. They looked cool and different.

I’m prepared for a mecha gnome of some description to be the gnome allied race though.

No.

Goblins should have never been a playable race, never made sense, not even to Blizzard for the longest time, which is why The Horde were supposed to get the San’layn as a counterpoint to the Alliance’s Worgen.

It’s silly. Goblin shaman are ridiculously stupid.

I never knew they considered the San’layn for Cataclysm as the Horde race. I knew they were heavily considering Ogres before deciding on Goblins. Interesting, if true.

It’s when Twilight was big, so the whole Vampire/Werewolf dynamic.
