The forums have always been this way.
I still remember the frothing hate MoP got, everyday people called it a “filler” expansion and said it “killed wow”. Now ironically, people here are praising MoP…
Ghostcrawler is absolutely right.

Ghostcrawler is absolutely right.
People didn’t hate MoP’s gameplay. They hated the theme and the way that content was gated behind dailies, dailies, and more dailies.
Frankly, GC doesn’t really know what opinions are the minority or majority anymore than we do. The only objective metric one could really use to determine overall opinions about the game would be sub numbers.
So maybe during his tenure he was right. Now? Maybe not so much.
They also said it was proof the devs stopped caring, they called it a April Fool’s mess of a joke.
Gameplay or not, the forums don’t care. They also blamed it for the “death of wow” as subscriptions continued to drop.
Blizz give this guy green text. He earned it.
If we’re really going to mention the Gamers’ Choice Awards, I would love to remind you all that the GCA is a player nominated award. Meaning the World of Warcraft playerbase voted positively enough to include World of Warcraft as a nominee for the award.
So clearly there are quite a few voices on the positive side of the aisle too, don’t you think?
are you sure there’s no way to influence any results with money and fake accounts? i wouldn’t be so quick to trust any awards event at all tbh.
I find it rather pointless for Blizzard to bribe and cheat their way into a virtually unheard of poll-based award when they already objectively have one of the most successful MMOs on the market.
Well to be fair, WoD only had one content so.
you’d be surprised if russians could influence presidential elections from accross the world, i wouldn’t doubt billionaires can influence a cheap poll, heh.
Probably less than that. I mean, garrisons are hardly content.
You need me to iron out that tinfoil hat?
sure, want me to clean those rose tinted glasses?
Oh right, Ghostcrawler doesn’t work for Blizzard anymore so why should we care what his opinion is. I have no idea why you people are even defending companies that mess up. Do you get paid or get some sort of compensation to do so? There is no possible way you do this for free. If someone like me can get fed up of BFA and just stop playing it that is proof enough that this is the absolute worst expansion ever put forward.
All I’m seeing is either “Haha these people are upset about something. I’ll say the something is good and their feelings don’t matter to get them even more upset!” or “lol the game is fantastic <except this one thing I don’t like and want changed> I don’t know why you guys are man you’re just entitled.”
I am not seeing much of "Well Blizzard could have done better with the expansion. Maybe they can fix things through the patches with Instead all I’m seeing is “OMG Alliance are so spoiled an entitled, take whatever buffs you get that you didn’t even ask for and shut your mouths.”
They would stand more to lose by being accused of cheating their way into the polls than they would gain in positive coverage as a result of winning.
Whatever your opinions on BFA are, there is an objective truth: World of Warcraft has defined MMOs for a decade and a half. Most other games in this genre, yes, including FFXIV which is a WoW clone with a greater narrative focus, and GW2 which was built with the express intention of not being WoW, have been defined by this one, single game.
Who in turn was defined by Everquest and Ultima. But at that point, we’re just turning to semantics.
I threw those out a while ago. After all, they prevent me from seeing the game has issues. Just not putting on the tinfoil hat cause that prevents me from seeing promise.
Bingo very true!
Millions is correct forums doesn’t = the real game.
I dont really hate the xpac, but compared to Legion, we dont have nearly as much content.
In Legion I didnt make an alt until they released the 120 BoA gear around 7.1 I believe. Now in BFA I’m getting ready to work on my 4th alt and 8.1 isn’t even here yet. And for me, after Blizzcon, BFA wont be the xpac i was expecting until 8.2
That’s because 8.1 is coming out far later in the expansion cycle than 7.1 did. Blizzard seems to believe releasing 7.1 so early was a mistake and seem to be over-correcting somewhat. It feels like they’re very much under the “it’s ready when it’s ready” mindset for this patch release and I’ve been taking a WCIII break for a couple weeks while I wait for the patch to come out.
