I recently resubscribed after a little while away from the game. For a week or two everything was running perfectly. Ping was extremely low and stable. For context, I live in Australia.
However, for the last three days I’ve found that loading new areas (after hearthing, taking a portal or entering an instance) causes the game to freeze up the majority of the time–as of today, the problem actually appears to have gotten worse, such that the game is basically unplayable.
I tried everything suggested in various support forums: Repairing the installation, reinstalling, resetting UI, playing without any add ons at all, turning off background programs, checking drivers, and so on. It was only after coming across a thread from last year in which Scandinavian players were having the same problem, that I saw someone suggest that playing with a VPN solved the problem. It also appears to help me–I can load new zones, but the ping then becomes unplayable.
I ran a tracert and pathping, it seems to me that there’s massive packet loss at some point. Is anyone else from the region having similar problems?
