Getting started in RBG... needlessly hard?

Why does it feel like you’re pushing against hurricane force winds to climb rating and get started in RBGs? I feel like Mugatu from Zoolander and I’m taking crazy pills here!

70% of the yolos (and yes I’ve got the stats this week to prove it) have been losses because either:

  • A - Two or more people are wearing greens/base honor gear with not even one leggo
  • B - People don’t listen when lead tries to call strat to help the win

Trying to start a group is tough because most of the people I’ve encounter at low cr DO NOT want to even touch their headset. And getting into a good group even when you have the CR and XP is no go. They won’t even consider you. Its exasperating I tell ya!

If anyone knows of any communities available that are still around to help players at least get started gaining CR, by all means HIT ME UP! Help a player out!

I feel like trying to get into a bg group by complaining about the entry level bg groups isn’t the way to find a better one when you admit you win 70% of your games

These problems will only end with the end of the gear barrier, hopefully next expansion.

I don’t think you paid attention to what was typed out. I said 70% of the yolos I’ve been in have been “losses”. They were very hectic and an unorganized mess. With each one having at least one or two people who didn’t have a leggo or even above 50k hp.

Your spec is correct, but your gear isn’t all that optimized. It would be best to get yourself a “Quick Oxxein Ring.” You don’t have enough haste for the 1.3-second cast polymorph or the 1.5-second frostbolt.

You must have at least 960 haste while PVP mode is activated. That’s the most important thing. Your boots have mastery on them; you have to use the crit one instead.

Haste > Versatility > Crit > Mastery

This should help you a little bit

rbgs are a mess per see. You wont get everyone to talk and you also need them to have at least a 7/7 honor gear upgraded plus 2 leggos so they are not useless.
Most people gravitate towards arenas and as alliance you will prolly not see any stable rbg groups going on rn

My best advice is trying to find an active guild focused in pvp so even if they are undergeared they know what they are doing and, they are pretty common in sargeras unlike in stormrage which mine is one of the only two i know here.
With or whitout gear some people struggle A LOT to get past 1500, honestly just avoid them someone with 600 games and never went above 1500? onply play if you are at 0cr, else, no.

tl;dr seek out a pvp guild in sargeras to help you or a horde one at zul’jin/tichondrius. dont waste time with people whom have no idea what they are doing or simply dont wanna know either.

Also you have a healthy amount of games and got challenger 1 in 2s keep it up with the comps/people you are playing and you will eventually hit rival and a whole new life surges.

How is pvp still this broken after all these years Blizzard? How have you not normalized gear, stats, and attacks like SWtoR did a decade ago? Why is it I can win 10 in a row on Alliance and not have won 10 the entire Shadowlands Xpac on Horde? How are some classes over powered in pvp and others can hardly do damage to any class? I’ve played this game since day one and it’s the only game I play… Blizzard has failed in PvP and has failed in the story line choice in the entire game since Argus, Dragon Isle included… I wish I could like to to play the game as much as I love the game.

RBG’s needs ilvl scaling and solo que.

Not even the hardest hardcore people want to que, wait, examine, kick, invite and inspect 5+ hours to get decent grp that does not disband after one loss.

It’s not worth the time. Nobody cares if you are “god” in RBG’s.

RBGs reunite all of rotten WOWs pvp have:

-gear disparity in a pvp environment
-player toxicity
-class unbalancing
-loooooong queues
-poor systems, very few player quality of life systems
-terrible rewarding system

All of this together, one making the other problems even worse…

You know, you could just, like, join a guild.

I usually do RBG’s for fun and to compete or if I really like the mount or the group of people that I am playing with. Very seldom to I put in more than 100 games in a season just because organized groups don’t last long because of schedules, burnout, real life, etc. Whenever I feel like picking up some RBG games I always look for a few things.

  1. Voice Comms - If you avoid groups that don’t require voice comms (even 0 CR) that eliminates 90% of your coordination problems. Pretty much a standing rule that I personaly have is 100% NO YOLO groups.

  2. Build a Network and use the Note Feature in BNET - If you find a good RBG Leader and some report is built over a few games ask to be included to their BNET list or community list. They may or may not reciprocate and that is ok.

  3. Have a thick skin. Be able to take as much criticism as possible up until that point that it is no longer criticism. People are easy to call other “Toxic” but in all honesty people should be listening to what others are saying and not how they are saying it. Remember that there are social awkward people in this word that may or may not be able to express themselves properly. Internet Anonymity magnifies that x1000.

  4. Don’t eyeball your Rating. You are going to gain and lose rating in spurts. Take the highs with the lows. No one has ever climbed from 0-2400+ with a +90% win ratio outside of a seasoned dedicated group. I have PUG climbed to over 1800 with a 75% W/L before so it is possible to find random groups with success up to a certain rating. I was running with an organized group and even then some our losses were “LOL WTF JUST HAPPENED TO US?” moments.

  5. Don’t be discouraged by CR rating requirements. Always remember that there are much better players than you out there. They are not identified by rating because let’s face it, half of LFG RBG YOLO leaders that require 2K rating bought that rating is some fashion. You will know the good players when you see them (same team or opposite team). Remember their names, learn from them.

Identify your goals and come up with your own criteria. Blindly applying to every RBG Group in LFG is going to get you Blind Results.

hahaha…you don’t need voice to lead/call a rated bg. that is a crutch. it’s so simple.

You are 100% correct. You do not need voice to lead/call a rated bg. Who said that you need it to lead one?

You missed the part that was specific to me. That is what I look for. If you want to do no voice yolo’s queue it up brother. I am curious to what your success rate is for leading or participating in no voice yolo’s.
