They may reform it in Shadowlands into a Spectral Ghostly looking dinosaur at the same price, or make it a toy, maybe something to help the people mad about it feel better idk
This is why I wish I could make myself like FFXIV as much as I do WoW. They treat their fans amazing. The documentary about how they remade the entire game after a poorly received launch, while keeping servers running of the old version (with new content and special events) for a tiny amount of loyal fans blows my mind.
Er, sorry, I actually forgot to link to the blue post confirming its removal and when it will be removed. I updated my original post with the link. Thanks for actually pointing this bit out.
With that said…
Is trying to scrap together 5 million gold last minute (Yes, somewhere between 6-9 months) really realistic for the average player? That’s a lot of gold in an expansion that, unlike WoD and Legion, has not been that great at handing out gold to players. The average player’s income is drastically lower than the last two expansions and it was never implied that this mount, unlike the other two mounts like this that we have had, would be time limited.
5 million gold in that time fame is a lot for the average player and this decision is inconsistent with past mounts of the same type.
God, that is ANOTHER point of frustration I have with Blizzard! They have gotten really bad about hiding these things and only commenting once they are found. If the dataminers never found this FoS then I wonder how long Blizzard would have actually waited to say something.
Secrets don’t make friends.
And on the topic of that, consider the fact that only a minor portion of the playerbase actually reads the forums or participates in community interaction. I wonder how many people, come post 9.0, will suddenly discover “Wait, I can’t get the Bronto mount anymore? Wth?”
Its becoming more and more common which is scary, they did this in legion with scaling stuff IIRC and didn’t comment until people found out and a real storm began to brew on the forums.
I mean, this certainly isn’t the only thing I have had strong feedback on. Hehe, Metro and I got into an argument the other day, off the forums, over WF/TF. I try to give feedback and opinions on as many things as I can. This topic just so happened to be the straw for me because of how shady this is.
You are right, there are much greater issues in the game than mounts but I feel the precedence this sets is an important fight as well.
I am not sure what you value as important topics but chances are I have a strong opinion on them as well and have probably made a comment somewhere before hehe.
I doubt it will affect me honestly, everything posted is within the CoC and forum guidelines. Worst case scenario, my thread gets merged and buried into another thread and even then I don’t think that would happen. Though all the kind words from you and the others here means a lot Thank you.
Hrgadasjksafsdfjhdfsaf-- Nah, in all seriousness grats on the good deal.
Eh, I wouldn’t say you are part of the problem. My points are more on Blizzard’s inconsistency and less on the consumer Grats also on your good deal.
That was a missed opportunity for sure, I agree with ya on that one.
My problem with that argument is that in Wrath we got the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth for 20k (before discounts IIRC) which had a Vendor and a Repair Vendor and was a two passenger mount. It was a lot of money at the time.
In Mists of Pandaria we got the Grand Expedition Yak for 120l (before discounts IIRC) which had a Repair Vendor and Reforging NPC (Converted to Transmog when Reforging was removed)
The Mammoth was not removed at the end of Wrath or when the superior Grand Expedition Yak was added. The Grand Expedition Yak was not removed at the end of MoP or when the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur was added.
However, come 9.0 the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur is being removed. Even taking into consideration inflation its by far the most expensive of the mounts and its inconsistent with how these mounts have been historically handled. It was not properly expressed this mount would ever be time limited to this expansion, no other mount of this type gave this precedence, and the amount of time they have left us with to acquire it is minuscule at best for its massive price tag.
That’s the problem. Its not a matter of if something better will come in the future, its how this is handled that is the problem.
Even ESO does a really good job communicating with its fans on subjects and big changes. Blizzard seems to be the odd man out lately. Heck, there are certain “Servers” who I follow on facebook who communicate better with their players than Blizzard actually does and whom actually listen to feedback and apply it far better.
Communication with Blizzard has taken more steps back lately. I think Blizzcon is a good example of this. IDK who here watched the Q&A panel but only TWO online questions were asked the whole panel out of several hundred. Even taking into account questions that may have been answered or were duplicates, only two questions getting answered is sad.
Additionally, communication since 8.2 got reaaaaaaaaaly quiet. Id personally given it a free pass since Blizzcon was coming and they probably wanted to save stuff for Blizzcon but it honestly feels like the “improved communication” is falling right back to where it was. Especially with Blizzard keeping quiet about things like this until a dataminer or someone find it and then they have to make a statement.
It really makes me wonder how long this would have been kept quiet for if not for Wowhead’s post about the FoS.
Well they had the whole drama they caused before Blizzcon and then they released a really empty apology and go back to be the same stupid company thats money over anything
And just like that, you became my favorite MVP. Well spoken, some people may not agree, but this is truly getting out of hand.
It upsets me how angry I am right now about a dumb game. The fact that they didn’t even bother, that it had to be datamined and THEN a player had to call them on it on GD for them to even acknowledge it is one more thing in a long list of DISASTROUS PR. I never call for the firing of anyone regardless of company but honestly:
“GET RID OF YOUR PR DEPARTMENT IF YOU EVEN HAVE ONE!” They are committing business suicide every single opportunity they have.
I’m not sure why they are removing it.
Maybe it led to ppl doing things they felt they had to do in order to obtain it and blizzard wanted to remove that feeling of necessity.
Or maybe it’s new direction of making valuable things more unique and special
I guess ultimately only they know
Anyways, I don’t care too much I’ve always felt they were too large and rather obnoxious
I agree with those who say it wouldn’t have been such a scummy move if they had made the mount’s temporary status known at the start of the expansion.
I really feel like every decision Blizzard makes regarding WoW these days is designed to push me further and further from the game.
Money, what else?
Like stated before they are creating false scarcity so people buy it now since it will be gone which also encourages people to buy tokens due to how expensive the thing is
TL;DR. Wait what? The AH mount is being removed from new buyers??? Since when was this a thing? I thought it was like the Yak mount.
i agree with alot of the essence of this wall of #*$#(ing however i can bring my self to go all in on a ugly mount i wouldn’t spend 100k on (i dont have the yak and i transmog way more then i ah)
Cannot really relate. For me a mount is just a mount. If I can get an awesome mount playing then that is good. But extra mounts that I will grind gold for etc is something I never pursued. The Obsidian Dragon from anniversary event is awesome though
The worst thing is even if they revert the change they’ve already made a good amount of money from it. Token prices have dropped lowest I’ve seen since Blizzcon so people are buying tokens likely because of this change.
Since it’s being removed and they clearly don’t care about it anymore, they should just give it out for free and reimburse those who bought it for 5 mil:”).
Haha jk they won’t. Once word gets around, watch tokens all the sudden drop in price to like 45k :”)
good i need b net balance for my hearthstone bundle
Yeah, that’s honestly a lot of the reason this is blowing up. Its an inconstant change with very little warning (Yeah, 6-9 mounts sounds like a lot of time but considering you need to farm 5 million gold… 6-9 months is not going to be much time for the average player), and historically this is a first as none of the previous vendor mounts have been removed like this so there was no precedence for this.
The cherry on top being that nothing was said until Wowhead found the FoS and then someone called Blizzard out for this. It makes you wonder how long they would have stayed silent on this had no one found or said anything.
Hehehe, I wish.
I suppose people who buy tokens for game time will be happy if that happened XD
You know, I didn’t even think about this until just now.
Doubled the scum, right there. Why do they even have communication teams anymore? They clearly don’t do anything but damage control anymore.
They don’t post patch notes, they don’t put news on the official game website for some unholy reason, and the few that actually do their job get canned. What good are they? This is ridiculous.
LOL yeah! ;( watch them announce a 10 million horse mount that has a chest saddle with a bank lololol.
To tell us how much they’re wanting to improve it.
or get people to burn gold and get it out of the system which i think was the purpose of all the super expensive mounts.
Wouldn’t token prices dropping be a good thing in general for those that buy it for game time? I am not too familiar with since I never used one before. I have a friend in-game that used to have enough tokens for one year subscription back in early legion.
