The most demoralizing thing to me is when I buy the re-roll tokens and I don’t get anything for weeks at a time with them. My entire first 3 months of the expansion was me doing the content consistently and never seeing anything drop.
When I go to a world boss, I don’t do it because of the aspect of an item upgrade. I do it because it gives me AP, because I might have gotten 1 single piece of gear from a world boss this entire expansion.
After doing the math, once it hits the bmah assuming its going to go for gold cap. It will be about $1100(With some change) not including online taxes. Absolutely crazy…
Edit: I also set tokens to about 180k in my equation, they dropped about 4k today so really its a rough estimate.
Right? These mounts have always been long term investments for a lot of people, not everyone is an AH Goblin and BFA compared to WoD and Legion has been a lot tighter on income for the majority of players.
So now I am sitting here going “Well, crud, I guess I have to devote my entire play time for WoW until Shadowlands towards trying to get the gold now” which I feel will just lend itself to burn out and I can’t even imagine how sucky its going to feel if I fall short all because of how short sighted and inconsistent this decision is.
Indeed, and that’s probably not even considering if the Gold Cap gets increased again in the future or token fluctuation. Its a lot.
The best strategy will probably be to buy tokens when they’re low, wait until before SL drops, then sell for the massive gain you’d get for returning players that will inevitably happen with the drop of an expansion.
I am fine with things being time limited, personally, as long as they are CLEARLY and from the start stated that they will be time limited and how long you have to get them. I take issue when decisions become inconsistent or last minute though, especially with something like this that is such a massive investment for the average player.
Agree to disagree. I’ll never think taking content out of the game for “prestige” sake is okay. Leave the content in, give us more to do. Give us FUN content that will keep us sticking around longer.
Arguing that a game isn’t worth getting upset over lies in the same basis of whether or not anything is worth getting upset over. Its life, stuff happens, move on, except what becomes worth getting upset over?
And removed goals leads to a loss of players. Death by 1000 cuts or a single blow, anything that chases players away (especially now with players noticing and commenting on declining player numbers) should probably be rethought.
Then don’t try opening the can of worms to begin with. People are allowed to be upset in things they put their time and money into. People are allowed to get upset with the things they’re passionate about. You don’t get to decide for people what they can be upset about just because “its a video game”.
This is one decision Blizzard really needs to explain to the playerbase exactly why the mount needs to unobtainable except via the Black Market AH upon release of patch 9.0?
Silence is only going to make players more annoyed or angry more than anything else.
TO be honest you are probably one of the few greens I have any respect for . I’ve seen you criticize Blizz plenty of times . The only one I don’t have respect for is a certain Orc DK that shall not be named.
WHat they don’t get is spinning the gear slot machine is a temporary rush of excitement . Working towards a goal and achieving it and possibly having a way to work towards upgrading said goal is a much longer sense of excitement.
Kind of like you buy your dream car after saving up for it then over time you get the killer set of wheels for it .
