You have one year to get this. One year is a long time to make 5 million gold and for most people wanting this they should have made a lot of this already.
You really are looking at the worse case scenerio. This might be a way for blizzard to allow the poorer people to get this cheaper. They couldn’t reduce the price on the vendor but they may start the bid price at less than 5 million. And you won’t have to compete with all the people with gold either since most if not all of those will already have it.

They actually had a blue post about this right at the start because I didn’t want to buy the CE and they said the mounts would be available separately.

A well written, completely rational and revealing topic. Hats off to you, Byucknah. The situation regarding mounts is just terrible. Once I heard about this, what occurred to me was that this is another way to sink gold and encourage players to purchase WoW tokens for further gold.

I was probably never going to get the Brutosaur as mounts are not a big deal to me, BUT this situation leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Anyone that spends any time on the forums probably knows that by in large I am very supportive of Blizzard and generally think people’s tinfoil theories are silly. However, in this situation, I honestly can’t think of any reason to do this other than to spike token sales which, imho, is shady beyond shady. Had they said at the outset “This will be limited.” that’s fine. Finding this out 9-12 months before it goes poof is wrong.

Doing the math i have no chance to get the mount unless i win the lottery to buy the tokens. If all i did was farm maybe but thats no way to play or spend my free time.
I hope this does result in people buying gold and pushing the token price down so I can stockpile them again but I don’t think it will prove anywhere near as much as people think. Oh I know you guys think Blizzard did it for that reason. I think they did too. I just don’t think it will actually result in many more sales and but I wish it did for my own benefit.
Like a lot of Blizzard decisions lately, all it’s going to do is annoy people and not make them much money if any at all.
Yeah, I did the math as well. If I were to put my nose to the grinding stone and do nothing but WoD Raids I would be making ~4k gold an hour and doing all three WoD raids in all 4 difficulties each nets about ~25k gold. But at ~4k gold an hour that’s roughly 1,250 hours (Roughly 52 days of played time) of grinding the same raids over and over and assuming you have enough toons to fill all that grind time.
Which just sounds miserable to be honest but I was curious what route a casual, non-ah adept, player could do within that time period.
So now I am going to weigh out how well farming materials and such is and playing the AH. I honestly thought I had more time like the other mounts, that there was no rush for this and it could be something I could eventually work up towards instead of having a solid deadline now.
Now that its been revealed its time limited I am scrambling to think of how I am going to earn all that gold in that time period, especially considering I am sure I am not alone in that feeling and other’s will also be doing the same.
I am sure it will snag a couple of whales at least, but I am not sure it will have a HUGE impact on the tokens. Its also keeping in mind that us forum posters are a minority of the games overall community. I am just thinking how many people who play wow have no idea this is even going to happen.
The worst part is that for some who really want to get it, this is just going to create burnout right before the next expansion. At least that’s how I am feeling as something I did not expect would be time limited is now abruptly time limited and I am certainly no AH Goblin compared to most people.

Yeah, Spider Mount as well for sure. I didn’t mention it because I felt the other vendor mounts were more comparable but its also a good point. Its so odd and out of place for this mount to just be randomly removed that it still baffles me a bit.
Well hell i was trying to save for that one but i am guessing i may not make it.

Most people who are outraged
- See this as blizzard trying to sell a ton of tokens in the next year, which it is and
- Want and/or want others to have the opportunity to save up over time and buy it.
I’m not one to be outraged at blizzard, but this…this is just a flat out bad decision and extremely obvious as to why it’s being made. They have never removed a gold sink before, much less the most expensive one to date.

O yea. That vendor is a weird one. I only seen him running around twice in Legion but at the time that spider wasn’t gonna be my goal…the long boi was. 0.o But guess I might as well make the spider my goal with this stupid decision blizz made. I’ll never hit 5mil before the deadline.

Unlike some other MVPs, you can count on Byuck to actually have a normal human’s take on things. There are some who you can pretty much guarantee will come out swinging at their fellow customers but never this guy.

It really saddens me to see just how many other people had this as one of the few existing long term WoW goals to work towards now giving up because they can not make the 5 million in that time frame for whatever reasoning.
Every post saying “I guess I should give up” really sucks to see. While I believe I can possibly do it in the time frame given, not everyone has the same circumstances as me.
This is being handled so poorly, in my eyes, and my heart bleeds for those unable, for whatever reason, to make that gold in that time span.
I really hope its reconsidered.
Thank you. I dont always agree with my fellow WoW players but I really try to ubderstand where others come from and be open to changing my mind based on discussion.
Im not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, who is, and I can get cross and dig my heels in from time to time but I really do try to see things from as many angles as possible and hear out different opinions and takes on a subject because thats what I would want from others.
