Depends. I run with friends we just trade gear to each other. You should try it some time.
Yes, you are guaranteed one piece of loot. If you run enough M+ and kill normal bosses, you get to pick the piece. However, this past week it awarded me everything I ALREADY HAD. Yeah, smart decision Bizz. How about scanning a players currently equipped pieces and then awarding loot?
I got the same damn ring 5 times over the past 2 weeks. Yes, thank you. How about a WEAPON that I have not had drop in over 3 weeks?
*System has built in diminishing returns on completing content
Players: Why isnt this system with diminishing returns giving me more loot for playing more?
I havent won a drop in about 2 weeks, every upgrade I have gotten is from other people not needing the drop in mythic plus and trading it to me. Either way I got loot. But I am also running with pugs and not trying to push above 4 on keys.
Seems like it will be a self correcting problem as more people get loot over time or you run with guildies/same armor class over and over.
Trying to compare SL M+ dungeons to Classic dungeons is insane. They’re nothing alike, dude. Raid progression is also completely different. 40 Mages cleared Molten Core. 40 priests killed Onyxia. Nothing similar would ever happen in Nathria. A
Apes cleared MC in less than a week after release. Blackwing Lair was cleared Day 1. Naxx was even cleared Day 1. Why are you lying?
Fun to me is making concrete progress. Fun for me is being able do more and more challenging content. I consider getting nothing for hours of work a frustrating waste of time. It prevents me from me from progressing and doing more challenging content. When I know that I could be doing more challenging content, but am held back week after week because of loot drought, that makes me want to quit and do something that rewards me for my time and effort.
While this is a great looking expansion, it is also the least fun expansion I’ve played.
The days and days and days of effort without any visible progress is squarely to blame.

Which is why Heroic Badges were a great idea. In addition to the Weekly Vault… this would have provided players with some achievable goals each week.
But if they guaranteed drops off bosses, you would only run 14 of them and stop because you got the gear. That certainly is not good for you or the game as a whole.
Or, you know, at least do 35anima x Key level.
It’s actually a little frustrating to be at a point where 10s are a waste of time. People can hate TF all they want, piss on the memory, but the content lasted longer.
The raids didn’t get beat or come on farm in a day like on the rerelease, you not getting that means what to quote you “why are you lying”? Does that help you?? The were cleared in a week, and not by your average player, hmmm like now with Mythic releases, but oh noes! That doesn’t fit your everyone was farming MC week one narrative right?
Fact are facts, gear never rained from the sky. In fact you got less gear back then for your 40 man raid than you do now. But hey, you will come back I am sure with more false comments.
Again, let’s educate you shall we? PCs get better. I know, you probably still play on yours since launch, since you seem to remember a “way” that the game did not exist… do private servers run better on your potato?
Comparing the raids then to raids now is the stupidest thing I’ve read from you over and over. Mechanics didn’t exist on inception, the game evolved, most of us did. Yet here you are still believing that the loot was better then than it is now, it’s not.
So bring on the next onslaught of comments, only took you a whole day to come up with this “brilliant” answer.
If you’re like me, endless duplicate loot from the vault. Very sad.
M+ is still far better for gear and the vault chance than 3 items per boss 20 man raid lol.
The loot system in SL generally is probably its worst feature.
Realistically the fastest way to gear up by a longshot is farming Nathria trash and resetting. It produces far more gear than any instance boss in the raid or M+
Eventually, it will.
They’ve spent years trying to figure out the timing for the dopamine hits. Miss the mark too much one way or the other, and people that aren’t hopelessly addicted to the game start quitting out of boredom. The beauty of the game is that it has periods where they get it JUST right (Legion), and periods where they miss the mark at one end (too much loot - BFA), or the other (too little - Shadowlands so far).
A badge system is desperately needed. 2-3 weeks per item on average, capped weekly acquisition to stop the degenerates from no-lifing it and inflating the ILVL requirements of grouped content to beyond working adult means. Gives people something to work towards that at least they know they’re going to get. Still won’t do enough to make the game playable outside of raid nights, because a vast majority of this playerbase doesn’t want to do PvP considering it runs at Mach 2 and most people don’t know how it functions at all anymore.
The great vault is everyones guarenteed loot “hit” of dopamine, we all receive it every Tuesday for being good boys and girls and getting our chores done.
If you didnt do your chores, then you have nothing to be burnt out about.
Why do people talk about the Vault being anything guaranteed?
There is no protection against getting useless garbage from it.
It’s still guaranteed loot, garbage loot or not.
Again however, garbage is still garbage.
The vault for all purposes is a cope out for an improved system that could have existed.
Had it happen twice now with the vault. I do my “chores” and still somehow got the Huntsman necklace TWICE and then a third time via the mythic week chest.
If ya aint burnt out yet, you will be.
You can get Stygia to buy a socket for a bad piece of gear, I guess.
Then again - it’s not like you’re replacing it in the next 3 months anyways.
Which was intended.
They want everyone on the Tuesday reset for their dopamine hit. It allows them to set the pacing of the content so that everyone remains subbed for longer. Give you your weekly hit, and hopefully it’s enough to keep you waiting for the next one.
The best skinner boxes are invisible. This one is about as visible as the sun at noon in july.
Hyped to open my weekly chest of disappointment instead of just getting rewarded from the content I do like literally every other rpg game.
