Getting more catchup knowledge than intended?

As I reported in this post, I have gotten more earned points than the maximum points of knowledge for profession currency:

Profession Knowledge not catching up

Awhile back I missed a week or two in profession knowledge. I got weak aura that now says i am behind 9 points in alchemy and 5 points in engineering. The thing is - I literally have done everything daily for a month now and have STILL not been able to catch up. Why is this? You miss a spark, you catch up instantly. You miss knowledge points - you’re permanently behind. What am I doing wrong - please advise.

Recap (profession currency = 3067, tailoring):

• Monday: Max value = 432, Earned = 430, “catchup knowledge” = max - earned = 2. Holding glimmer due to currency transfer issue. Could not purchase missing recipe.
• Tuesday: Max value = 448, Earned = 430, “catchup knowledge” = 18. Did flicker and glimmer (3 kp)
• Wed: Max value = 448, Earned = 433, “catchup knowledge” = 15. No kp orders.
• Thurs: Max value = 448, Earned = 433, “catchup knowledge” = 15. Did 3 glimmers (kp = 6), also did crafting order quest (kp = 2), and treasures (kp = 2).
• Fri: Max value = 448, Earned = 443, “catchup knowledge” = 5. No kp orders.
• Sat: Max value = 448, Earned = 443, “catchup knowledge” = 5. No kp orders.
• Mon: Did 3 glimmer orders (kp = 6) Max value = 448, Earned = 448, “catchup knowledge” = 0. Technically, earned = 443 + 6 = 449, but it caps out at the max value.

I would like clarification here: is this the intended behavior?

Would this be considered an “exploit”, especially considering that on one week a month the number of glimmer kp does not match the iterated kp for the max value? I.e. One week a month the “glimmer refill” occurs on Friday when the previous refill was Monday (previous game week) and the next refill will be Tuesday (next game week), so that week there are 2 kp*#glimmers for that profession LESS than a normal week.
