Setting dungeon difficulty to mythic, then entering that dungeon, the difficulty reverts back to heroic. Can I not go into a mythic dungeon solo?
Depends on which dungeons.

Violet Hold on Mythic. Set it for mythic and inside it is for heroic.
I’m not sure Mythic dungeons were available then. I think it was only Normal and Heroic. I’ll do some checking and see if I can verify.
Edit: It depends of which version of Violet Hold. WotLK was only Normal and Heroic. Legion included Mythic.

Which version of Violet Hold are you trying to do Mythic on? The version that’s in Dalaran from Wrath of the Lich King doesn’t have Mythic difficulty.
However, The one from Dalaran (Legion Expansion) does have Mythic.

Make sure u have the right dalaran mthic violet hold is in the broken shore not crytalsong forrest.
