Getting False Reported

In Cataclysm Classic I am getting reported for language violations even though I have not use the chat at all in the Wandering Isle. I think people are mass reporting people to prevent them from doing the Pandaren Starter zone so they cannot get the promotion mount.

So, to clear somethings up:

  1. If you have been reported, and that report has been verified to a breach of any of the policies, then action will be taken for that breach of the policies.
  2. Mass reporting is more of a myth if anything. Because it doesn’t matter if only 1 person reported you, or 5 people reported you, all it takes is 1 report to be reviewed.
  3. If you have been actioned, your only option is to appeal by submitting an appeal ticket.

Getting an account action doesn’t mean it’s false, the GM who handle the ticket they got for it agreed with it. If you believe it’s done in error, you can appeal it.

In retail, I can’t report someone for inappropriate communication if they don’t type anything in chat.

I’m not seeing any violations so I assume you mean a chat warning? If you are seeing a warning for chat, Scald, it may have been reports from a previous session. You shouldn’t be able to report someone for chat if they have not used chat.

Additionally, any chat that is reported generally needs to be verified as violating our Code of Conduct. Outside of spam reports, which are usually used for gold/illicit service advertisements designed to squelch and account, nothing should happen unless the chat is verified.

The chat warning that you’ve been reported will often come up the first time you log into a different version of the game. It was probably something from months ago or more. There is no such thing as “mass reporting”. It doesn’t happen period.

Technically speaking, it can happen. It doesn’t happen as often as people think and it doesn’t have as big of an impact as a lot of people assume. As I mentioned before, the chat that might be reported is reviewed for potential inappropriate and toxic chat. If none is found, nothing more will likely come of it, though you may still see a warning pop up, since that is based on reports, not review.

I think you are right though, Vralok, that sounds like the warning was from some old reports. We can’t see those until they actually generate a report for review so I can’t say with 100% certainty, but that is the most likely scenario.
