Blizzard offering the wow token legitimizes the buying of gold with a credit card swipe. It’s saying, yeah, we think it’s totally okay, so knock yourself out rather than, if you get caught, you could be banned or suspended.

That actually depends. It’s governed by supply and demand. It could easily go down too - depending on whether the demand for game time is higher or lower than the demand for game gold.
Classic having an older demographic than retail will probably mean there is a higher demand for game gold and a lower demand for game time on Classic servers than on retail. So, I wouldn’t expect it to match. Also depends on how effective gold sinks are in Classic versus Retail.
Actually era has more players currently then it has in quite some time.
I never claimed the classic population was larger than any other population. I merely made the assertion that if era and subsequent seasons include the p2w feature the classic players will go back to the servers they played on before.
It’s obvious you are in the minority on this. Some folks like p2w, you seem to be in that camp. There is nothing wrong with that inherently. The problem comes because many of us left WoW because we don’t enjoy p2w (among other retail features) and renewed subs to the older version of the game. If that version is not available players will look for it elsewhere.

If you buy the token on Wrath classic and convert to game time is the game time only for Wrath classic or do you also get access to retail and era like you do with a monthly sub?
You added RMT to the game, p2w.
I was enjoying myself doing tourney dailies at dailies for 20g and a seal and now you’re telling me I am better off working one hours overtime and not being online for 3 months able to buy the pets and have more money left?
Unsubbing, might as well not do it at all.
Also I am burning my wrath collectors edition to show my disgust.

Interesting question with implications.
The sub is across all WoW games, and if that were tokens too then you could see players switching between both games depending on where the tokens were cheaper.
Example: It may be a one hour grind to get a token from Retail and a one week grind to get it from Classic. So you may end up playing most of the time on retail to buy the tokens for game time - purely for economic reasons (or vice versa). Conversely you could end up with an influx of retail players grinding gold on classic.
Just read and it is redeemable for Blizzard account balance or general wow game time. So, this will be interesting.

I agree with your Retail=BC point of view but it’s a grey area.
As a wrath baby, I won’t play anything that isn’t the pre-Cata talent system. I’ll go back to classic b4 I go forward to Cata.

1 token equals a repair mammoth almost. I think thats a good enough reason and gold sink people are willing to spend 20 dollar on.

I’m keen to see how this impacts on active player populations. A lot will depend on where it is most economical to farm game gold for tokens - retail or classic.
Finally something is being done to counter the RMT and GDKP issue with Classic. GDKPs got everybody now and no need to worry about bans. Well done Blizzard, bravo
Now do the right thing Blizz and put the token on Era just for the lols

Literally zero impact. Most of the playerbase buys gold / GDKPs which are impacted by bought gold. We all knew it. It was everywhere.
Lets not suddenly act like the token changes a single thing. It doesnt at all.
Some of the ppl on these forums man… i tell ya. Its like the father who freaks out his “angel” of a daughter is expecting when everyone at school knows she gets around more than a carousel at a circus. Lets be real, this changes nothing.
