They already did this though. It was never against the terms of service to buy wow tokens in retail and exchange them to players in return for Classic ingame gold. It was a bit fiddly to do but thoroughly legitimate and endorsed according to Blizzard.
Actavision Blizzard have never viewed buying gold with real money as cheating. They just oppose players buying that gold through mechanisms other than the wow token. It’s other people profiting from their IP they oppose - not players using their CC for ingame gold.

But it also aids in the 3d party angle.
At this point their filter cutoffs for spurious gold in mail from strangers is probably so broad its not even funny.
Token takes off and now those sql filters can be better tuned.
Player X got 11K gold.
Did they buy a token? yes!
And off the report they go based on that. That could be at least 25% of reports assuming that filter looks at 10K or more money transfers.
And now the devs can see player x getting 11K no token.
Do they even have an 80 who could run a raid? to get gdkp money the angle here. No. Kind of sus, that.
Do they have an uber crafter/enchanter who is tipped really well? No. Really kind of sus.
It impacts Blizzard’s principles by adding something that was not originally in the game, while refusing to release RDF, that was originally in the game
It also impacts Bobby Kotick’s boathouse, he’s gonna need a bigger one

Love how blizzard has intentionally ignored Botting the entire lifespan of classic and done nothing to stop RMT and the GDKP culture around the game all so they could profit heavily off the morons that have turned this game p2w. GG gdkp lovers and blizz, we already knew you didn’t care about the integrity of the game in the slightest, but thanks for showing your true colours.

Yes, that’s the real problem and the only way to cut back on the amount of bots, perma ban the buyers so players are afraid to buy gold. But blizzard will never do that. Banning the bot accounts doesn’t hurt the bottom line because they’ll all be back on a new account in a couple of weeks. But most of the buyers aren’t going to get a new account and start over from level 1. They’re gone forever.

The time for permabans was 2019 so people would be conditioned into not buying gold. Too late now. Blizz wants to cash out on Wrath Reforged until it inevitably dies when they try to launch cata and 90% of the players quit.

at this point cata might not even come out considering retail wow bringing back most of the unobtainable items. More so looking like wrath ending it and character copies over to retail with wrath era server but what do I know.

They profit off of bots and goldbuyers secretly so of course they won’t perma ban buyers. Something funny is on classic era they’ve been closing people’s accounts for kiting guards and npcs to kill players (something that has happened since 2004) but apparently people think this is impossible to do to gold buyers.

Kargoz literally has Aggrend on his stream and asks him to ban people who “grief” him and and his friends in HC. Aggrend is too busy playing around on HC streams to care about WOTLK classic. Meme game. Meme dev team. Meme company.
