I was active on general discussion as well as my specific realm forum back in 2005. This was not widespread. This wasn’t a big name addon. Titan bar, skida dps meter, bag add-ons, unitframes, floating combat text, all common back then. No lfg add-on, not a single one comes to mind. Putting together groups never was a problem. You make friends, you join a guild, you check /who. This add-on is for retail. GTFO
Maybe you should try it! Instead of needing a button to auto find you a group. Maybe just try something that’s different? Maybe? No? Just ruin classic a second time because your playerbase? Okay
Any addon that helps me burn thru levelling to get to the 60 end game is a welcome one for me. I did the leveling first time round but since i started vanilla in oct '06 i didnt get time to see the lvl 60 gameplay. So bring on the addons.
Apparently you’ve never heard of Call 2 Arms then…That pretty much did the same thing. Spammed a chat channel with a message that you type into a box and click a button to have it start. It would spam chat once every 2 minutes or so and then you’d invite people from the whispers you get
I really don’t think that having a addon that will reduce the amount of people afking in cities is going to bring classic to its knees… why not just sit down and actually think about what is on offer here…
Classic always had auto grouping it is how the meeting stones worked and to be honest it wasn’t much used. I can not in anyway see how this add on changes anything. The groups are from the same server. You have full control of them.
Just what is the issue use words instead of paranoia.
Downtime is an important ingredient to a game that intends to be an immersive world. If you constantly are gogogo, PvP, gathering, questing, while your add-on removes the downtime required to find like-minded players for whatever content you’re tackling.- that EFFECTIVELY removes a social aspect of the game. Having to take a moment to stop, communicate, and put together a group, that downtime isn’t OMG SO FUN but it makes the group experience that much better. It adds to the game. Downtime is required to stop and appreciate the game as a world.
All of you players that want no downtime you’re 100% the cancer of MMOs. You belong in single player games or lobby based PvP games.
At the end of the day, someone requesting to enter your group in the add-on is no different to me than a player messaging me the word “Invite” in private message.
The important player interaction to me personally, is AFTER the players join the party, when we decide if we are traveling to the dungeon together, in order to avoid ganking and be able to summon any other people too far away. Discussing how we are approaching the dungeon, if we are skipping anything and so on.
I’m not opposed to the add-on also because this pretty much existed in the old days also. Not everyone used it, but there are lots of add-ons no one used that will be extremely popular in todays Classic.
the spirit of classic was different for everyone, that like people that never use mods saying no mods allowed because that ruins the spirit of classic play it the way the devs made it.
Damn right! You better rush to 60 as quick as you can because Classic is set to expire in never days. Go go go before it’s too late to experience that 60 content.
Huh? The only “retail” WoW I’ll be playing is classic. Heavily.
In any case, if you think that people will join groups and chat and discuss strategy in the dungeon, you’re very naive. People are people, and if someone doesn’t like how a dungeon is going they’ll just leave.
No one will say a word in group chat, unless two or more people know each other. That’s how humans work.
