Most player will never accomplish a 5 mask. Did just get to Rank 13 yesterday though. Huge accomplishment. In 2 weeks I should finally be Rank 15. Then maybe I will do a 1 mask.
Just like the average player cannot/doesnt achieve 1550 in any bracket every season. But 1550 is still considered easy to get.
Most PvP players don’t do Arena. Also not even a close comparison since one is time and resource gated and the other is just Que. Doing a 5 mask is not easy or even getting there.
Most players won’t get the resources every day for weeks to get Rank 15 then won’t possess the ability to clear a 5 mask. I just did my first full clear no mask yet. That was an accomplishment and harder than getting 2k because of everything involved.
I think doing 5 mask would be like getting Glad it’s a time investment and commitment for weeks. I will be happy if i manage a 2 mask. Although probably won’t do anything past rank 15 as visions are unbearable to begin with. They are worst than M+
Sorry not gonna agree with ya on this and most other PvP players won’t either.
It certainly is not .
A full clear without mask is very very easy . Like doing emissary level easy .
Corruption effects are so OP though … a fire mage 1-1 me last night at LM in the brawl. He was pretty geared 472 but I would have still had him if not for a random tentacle that came out of the ground and just deleted me . I needed one more hit to kill the mage ![]()
Whether it is easy or hard isn’t really the issue. The fact that PvE shines far above PvP for gearing is the issue. Visions and M+ are the go to method for gearing this expansion.
Corruption is a horrible mechanic for PvP. Keep that random proc garbage in PvE where it belongs.
First you need to learn what “exploit” means
I do apologize if no one informed you but you are in fact able to run M+ and mythic raids and acquire all the same gear.
So your complaint is that people who put more effort into the game than you have an advantage?
Think i found the problem.
While templates might be a good option for balance at this point you are your own problem here.
I do what i consider the bare mimimum for currency to buy mask runs - 1 large invasion / 2 small invasion / Mini vision daily and what minimum quest i need to do to to complete the previous listed tasks. Takes a few min each day. I have 80k banked and i spend 30k a week buying 3 runs.
While i have not pushed at all this season and mostly just pugged i have gone up to 2k in 3s and 2’s which is vastly harder than a 5 mask run because you cant carry bad players that far. I saw your 2k was back in 2015 so that may skew your perspective.
Not even in the same ballpark. I dont have a glad title because im not interested in the amount of effort (and dealing with people for the most part) that it would take to do that. Which is infinitely harder than a 5 mask. Unless you think you can go from 0 rating to 2400 with 50 wins in about 15 to 20 min.
Im not really a fan of arena and i prefer BG’s but you are seriously lost if you believe what you said.
They already shine? Only now it’s amplified because they have better gear for being fotm too.
If you give better players better gear, you’re just further increasing their advantage over other players.
This is not ideal in a competitive PvP environment.
It is ideal to reward better players for their effort. If I sit in random Bgs all day I don’t deserve the gear of a 2k+ player.
I disagree because that is how it was when PvP was the best and we had ratings for Arena gear. We had 2200 rating requirement for weapons so the better skilled players got better gear. That is pretty much exactly what you want in an RPG. The best players get the best gear then own it up.
I say bring back Arena ratings for Vendors. 1400 lets you buy boots, 1500 for shoulders, 1600 for chest etc…
This would increase participation across the board and heck people would actually make friends in an MMO trying to get ratings. I still am friends with my first Arena partners from TBC because I wanted Arena gear to use in BGs. So I made friends and pushed ratings.
It actually was the most competitive PvP ever was back then. Now PvP isn’t competitive.
The difference is that back then we had base level gear. Crafted gear was a bit viable, at least in early seasons, and an honor set wasn’t hard to obtain. Applying PvE gearing curves to PvP created a gear balance problem that was much smaller back then, raising max level players without regard for starting characters is a recipe for further imbalance.
That created walls at the rating cutoffs.
To break into 2k, you had to beat players who were wearing 2k gear.
To break into 2.2k, you had to beat players who were using 2.2k weapons.
There’s a reason why they use the same ilevel gear in the arena tournaments and they don’t give better gear to the higher-seeded teams.
That is true only for a tournament. If they just gave everyone the same PvP gear in Retail there would be no reason to play because there is no gear progression. The core aspect of the game is still the gearing process first then PvP after and that is required for this to be a successful MMORPG. The fun is gearing up over several weeks and PvPin along the way as there is power progression.
The gearing process should just be better and there needs to be incentive and rewards for casual PvP players to venture into Arena and rated play instead of mythics.
If only they had other rewards, like titles, rare mounts, elite xmogs, etc.
Why in 2020 are people still shocked that Gear helps determine PvP outcomes? Go back to the first T1 4 piece PvE Set Bonuses to see the first tear shed.
Sixteen years worth of forum posts and people still think something is going to change that End Game PvE Gear will ever be on the same level as Random BattleGround Gear or PvP Conquest Gear. The pure fact that more people participate in PvE than PvP on a regular basis forces developer’s to “balance” the game around PvE encounters. Kudo’s to them for at least making attempts in the past with experiments like Resilience, PvP Power, etc. What it boils down to is, if you want to play this game, you have to play the entire game.
Don’t shoot the messenger.
Those things don’t interest players who are into RPGs and log in for gear. ( don’t get me wrong they are an okay side thing to do but not the CORE PART of the game ) Getting a powerful item is what WoW or any RPG is about. Then testing that item in PvP to own it up. Anytime we move away from the RPG aspect of the game it isn’t good.
This game is about power progression. If you remove that then people will leave and play other RPGs that capture that power progression. It’s what we are looking for!! We crave it…we NEED IT!!
No idea this game is an MMORPG and is built on gear progression. I can’t fathom playing an MMORPG and not enjoying gearing up. It’s the whole point of the game. To get BiS then PvP with it.
Which is why you give them unique cosmetic rewards that nobody else can get.
Or higher ilvl gear is the better option, like we have now.
It’s not the better option and not even preferred by the people who are getting it.
