Get Into the Grid of Things with the Updated UI and HUD

Ironically, even though I love the layout I am able to create using the Blizzard UI, I’m going to have to download something like Bartender and Z Perl to be able to play the game again due to the UI not actually saving and constantly resetting all over the screen.

Not if you are vision impaired as the text and icons that cannot be changed in some important parts of the UI. Also why not have it automatically set if someone selects classic that it goes back to the style of classic?

This is so frustrating to use and so buggy that I think I’m going to quit playing until this gets sorted out or someone makes an add-on that allows you to convert to the old UI since we know Blizzard won’t do it.

Good - The ability to move a lot of things around and resize some elements. Glad to see the move forward.

Bad - Unable to resize everything or outright hide. Why? I’d like to be able to change the Talking Head to the size of my character box and only have the Hud Tooltip show with a key press, among other things.

Ugly - Mini-map and menu bar. Last UI change turned the menu bar buttons from normal size to mini-size. You’ve doubled down and made them micro-size (and the mini-map anchored buttons). Good grief, allow us to resize them, such a glaring oversight.

I’m glad for the customization & happy with most of it, but there is room for improvement. Where these not brought up during testing? Ignored? Impossible ask?

Same with the Target of Target. No matter what you do to it, it stays stuck under the Target frame. Its useless.

Its a total piece of BS! We should have the option to keep the original UI PERIOD!

You all devs are so out of touch its disgusting!

This is my complaint. I hate a huge tower of buttons in the middle of my screen, yet the only way to change it makes the whole thing lopsided. See, you CAN put the action bars horizontally side by side, but the griffon decorations will still only ever flank the FIRST bar. Meaning you wind up with random decoration in the middle of the long bar.

In before “you can get rid of them”: I know I can, but that’s not what I want. I just want them to flank the WHOLE bar as I set it up.

Also, the menu in the lower right is ridiculously small and hard to see. There needs to be an option to make it bigger. Or to put a solid background behind it so the tiny symbols don’t blend into whatever else is on the screen. ANYTHING.

The cast bars are another problem. The greyed out bar filling looks super sleek, but cast bars are something I need to see out of the corner of my eye. I can’t be staring straight at them. The corner of my eye needs something more defined. They need outlines of some kind again. The vaguely transparent grey which (like the tiny menu in the lower right) just blends into everything.

This is something I’m hoping for, too. The old UI had a cohesive look to the bottom of the screen that literally can’t be replicated in the new system.

How does one re-adjust mission table windows? They used to be nice and centered, now they’re at the top of the screen and it’s kind of bothersome.

Edit: Also the LFG icon gets in the way of my toolbars, which are in their original positions.
Seems like a lot of stuff that should be moveable as part of the new UI system isn’t.

For real, my eyesight is terrible, and it’s impossible to see my damn bags or my menu. But thank god they made the open bags eat half the screen and the bar art clip into my abilities, I was really clamoring for those two features!

Blizz decided to no prune abilities, they decided to prune the damn UI and make it terrible.

Having problem I also had in Beta when resizing chat or changing party window settings I save it as a new profile, log out, and then when I log back in it’s all back to default new layout name not saved.

The image in the original post of this topic does not look like Warcraft or anything I want to play around with.

Yeah there’s definitely plenty of time over the next 2 years to further improve on the base UI in edit mode and what it can do.

think I’m going back to Bartender

“Ease of use” nicely defines the old UI but not this one, not at all. I’m not defending any addons, I’ve never felt the need to use an addon for the UI until now. Really hoping I can find a ‘put everything back where it was’ mod ASAP.

I agree, this is very difficult for me to see and the text is difficult to read as well. Maybe Blizz wants to get the old blind players out.

it sure feels like they want to get rid of the old players - a lot of those flying world quests I don’t have the flexes to do
