Get an Early Look at Hero Talents in The War Within

Quick question: What’s the “unstable time magic” in the Chronowarden hero talents. I don’t recall that being in the current skill trees.

I enjoyed the Chronowarden hero talents. Nice to see some of the tier set bonuses making there way into the talents. Surprised seeing the spirit bloom season 2 bonus instead of the season 1 reversion living flame free-cast bonus. Maybe spirit bloom effects change to a gold color?

Will I have the mana to press my light-smith abilities?

Speaking exclusively to DK, looks very good so far, keep it up!

We REALLY REALLY need to have interconnected lines going between the 3 columns on these trees. I am so disappointed with the choice of being locked in to a column once you pick an option on the second row.

Why advertise the freedom of player choice and the only thing we can do is go in a straight line down? Please consider adding inter-connectivity Blizzard, I beg you.

I think you’ll be able to pick all of the talents at max level. You just have to really pick between choice nodes.

Seems kinda boring, if it comes with ability reskins I’ll probably like it anyway though

I spitballed some hero talent concepts. Most of these are deliberately OP, and would be added to existing abilities to reduce button bloat.

mage
self heal over time
faster and more mobility
execute damage

warlock
more tankiness
removal of cast times
pet-originated burst

rogue
control that cannot be escaped with trinkets
faster cooldown reset when no nearby combat
ranged attack that doesnt break stealth

hunter
all pet appearances can have any properties
higher penalties for escaping traps
melee burst attacks including dual wield

shaman
ye olde backpack totem or 2 property totem
earth melding (invincibility)
air elemental pet (permanent ghost wolf speed and minimum speed)

evoker
always-on move while casting
short cooldown on dracthyr racials
breath attacks now have 5 properties, dot, hot, root, knockback, and stasis, must be preselected, but changeable in combat on medium cooldown

priest
overheals increase the targets stats
attacking the priest (or the priests heal target) debuffs the attacker
priest attack spells are not interruptable and can’t be locked out

druid
broccolis that taunt and heal
insect form that can fly indoors and can cast CC including new entangle forms, only available in combat
Heart of the Wild, permanent and stronger

monk
leap to friendly target
a knockup that is also a stun, with followup attacks from existing abilities
zen meditation powerup, full mobility during, and aoe damage after completion

paladin
autoapplication of a weak dot when near enemies in combat
multitarget combat res or soulstone equivalent
temporary steed pet with its own aura

warrior
light ranged attacks
higher rage pool, pooling rage gives inhernet immunities
all stuns and fears are now knockdowns and cannot be trinketed

DH
ZOOOM
SWOOOSH
RARRGH
more seriously, at some point you guys need to add a sigil spec, with lots of on-ground aoe abilities. No ideas yet.

DK
Short cooldown toggleable wraith form that moves faster and changes abilities to much weaker range attacks
Ghouls appear more frequently and have more properties, can appear from any corpse
Chains of Ice is now applied passively from specific abilities

Cool stuff for Paladin. Hope it’s not the Seraphim visuals reused though.

Got my fingers crossed for Lone Wolf survival hunter getting implemented via Sentinel.

Otherwise, I don’t know what to think of this yet.

Definitely excited about new features to the game! The mountain thane sounds like an amazing class fantasy as a warrior, literally the fantasy of playing Thor.

Being and evergreen feature, does this mean we can expect new trees in the future? Perhaps themed around an expansion/patch release?

The disney-ification of dragonflight was just icing on the cake.

Next to nobody is wanting to play WoW because people have grown so apathetic of the game after years of player hostile systems.

So… Alternative Advancement from EQ?

What’s old is new again, I suppose.

More modern comparison would be like ascendancies from path of exile. But yeah.

This reminds me way too much of covenant abilities but passive. The idea is cool but one hero talent tree will be best for everything you want to do and probably wont look or feel as good for your character as another.

Please don’t name the hero specs excessively long titles like “Rider of the Apocalypse”. Try to limit yourself to a few syllables here

Spot on. I really hope that we start to feel the impact of our buttons when pressed. Currently it feeels like to me dk is falling way behind when compared to other classes, for example; ret pally. It feels really bleh as if my moves have no weight behind them. Eg; Spamming epidemic in UH… It gives no satisfaction at all and theres no other way to play the spec unfortunately. Really hope blizz takes a good look at dk’s and makes it fun to play again.

Happy about the idea of Sanlayn, however the talents seem ok but was hoping for something more Visual like Blooddrinker or Swarming Mists. Need more of taste of Bloodborne or Legacy of Kain. And does this mean blood dks get red eyes now?
I feel hero talents should mean something visual as well as powerful. If they don’t what’s the point and the difference from a set bonus?

Agreed, Death knights need a rework asap.

Hunter pets make hunters the most customizable class in game by a wide margin.

Other classes need to be brought up to that level before hunter needs more customization.

I wish that these were cosmetic based and not tuning reliant. It’s going to end up being a non-choice that most players wont interact with because you choose what is best tuned based off a guide. If San’Layn, for example, made your abilities on your bar and effects red or your undead were now vampiric variants this would hit a much broader audience. Maybe add player customization changes like having a DK with a red eye option with a bunch of tattoo’s / unique options per hero class? Hero specific armor/mounts? I think this just being a SYSTEM really misses the mark. Didn’t the old glyph system get changed to cosmetic due to it being too complicated? This is going to be a balancing nightmare where nobody will get to choose the hero spec they want to be but just what is best. zzZZZzzz come on blizz
