Sounds like a new version of an engineer; Oh wait, engineers bring nearly nothing to the game now.
My guess is thatâs what the other two hero trees will be for. But at the very least, this gives those who may want some âThor/lightning magicâ with their warrior the option to have that.
A Glyph that lets us hide Shadowform and Moonkin form completely would be lovely and is long overdue.
Cannot get into Boomkin or Purple Gaseous shapes.
Iâm really enjoying these so far. Kind of jelous of what lightsmith is getting. While I understand the concerns of relying on other people to pick up armaments, I think itâll be about the same as relying on people to step inside healing bubbles or healing aoes. And if thatâs not your playstyle, then hopefully the other hero talent choice will be more fitting.
Chronowarden seems very interesting and sanâlayn seems awesome. Warrior is about what I expected, but will give a more magical fantasy option for those who are looking for it.
The one Iâm most interested in is Scalecommander for Evoker. But all in all Iâm really loving the direction, class fantasy and design of these. Iâm interested/excited to see more of the others.
Iâm trying not to get my hopes up, but it isnât working. I canât wait to see this tree and Iâm probably going to be disappointed; it canât be as awesome as it sounds.
They said from day 1, its supposed to be more like an extension of a spec tree, without disrupting current builds.
It is funny to me that youâve been showcasing Druid and specifically Boomie a lot, but it isnât in the initial few.
Would have liked to have seen a caster.
I think the power level of the Hero talents is about perfect.
Theyâre mostly passives but good passives not 5% to a blanket stat.
Eagerly awaiting Warlock and Hunters.
They used to have it. All they have to do is uncomment the code.
Theme/lore wise, I think Sanâlayn and Mountain Thane are strong. Core warcraft stuff. I know we say in this post sometimes thatâs not possible but as much as it can, hero talents should be themes like this.
Mechanics wise, I like Lightsmith, itâs innovative and doing things Paladin hasnât been able to do before. Support vibes, I like it.
The other ones, the very proc based ones, I donât like. Iâd rather see Vampiric Strike be always-on, not proc based. And the warrior one, just seems like its procs upon procs upon procs. Do war players like that? I donât.
I want to see more things like Lightsmith in terms of mechanics, things that change up the gameplay for those roles, and more things like Sanâlayn and Mountain Thane in terms of lore/flavour/iconic hero representation.
tldr; RNG procs bad, transformative/replacement abilities good.
- I can almost guarantee itâs more complicated than that
- that doesnât address my point at all.
I highly recommend reconsidering your stance on large changes to class spell effects based on hero tree selection. I donât think you realize how much better received this evergreen system will be if it has drastic âflavorâ changes to the class as a whole.
If you are concerned that some players will not want their spec effects to be overwritten then just put a toggle on the hero tree to enable hero tree effects or not.
But making significant changes (or even as simple as color changes) to core spells in addition to the spells affected by the hero tree will make it feel leaps and bounds more impactful.
Feel like theyre stealing this from shadow. I wonder if theyre taking it away from SP.
With all due respect Blizzard; yaâll need another look at this entire system from the ground up as well as all the âtalentâs/choicesâ you are proposing. Iâve read all the currently proposed talents and this IMMEDIATELY reminded me of Diablo 4 releasing their talent trees and them getting ripped a new one for how poorly designed they were.
outside of the Evoker which is EXTREMELY strong bordering on being completely overpowered, these Hero Talent Trees are bland, boring, weak and differ greatly in terms of power and utility from class to class. There is no way that the evoker hero tree and the rest of the currently known trees are even on the same planet let alone playing field.
These are supposed to be CLASS DEFINING ABILITIES AND TRAITS. As it stands right now, when someone hits max level, they will have all nodes. Yet only 4 of these nodes are âchoiceâ nodes. meaning ALL the others are NOT CHOICES. They are just baked into the class. So out of 11 nodes only 4 are âdefiningâ us. On top of this, Currently, some donât even seem to fit some of the specâs roles. Thus, there is no choice there. For other choice nodes thereâs no choice because one is literally not for your spec.
These are ALMOST ENITIRELY PASSIVE as well. With proc rates and numbers being so low ( like 1.5% or 4 seconds of uptime) that these will literally not matter 98.5% of the time. And when they do matter, we have to be in a position to respond to it/use it which will not always be the case.
These talent trees AND REWORKS OF MANY OF THE SPECS are very much needed in the next expansion (some specs havenât changed in over 10 years). You CANNOT AFFORD TO PLAY THIS AS PASSIVELY AS YOU HAVE BEEN. Get a serious boost of imagination and creativity, rebuild these things and the system with more uniqueness, true AND MEANINGFUL choices/options and LET US DEFINE WHO! WE! ARE!
Sanlayn should be a SP thing imo. Weve been vampiric since forever.
Rider of the Apocalypse should have been called Lich.
Hmm Sanâlayn seems heavy on health regen⊠but Iâm curious how Deathbringer and Rider of the Apocalypse will play. AlsoâŠwonder how the rogue ones are set up but Iâll wait on those as Iâm most likely not making my main my rogue for an expansion again.
Can we dial in, balance, and finish the current talent trees before adding a whole bunch of extra complications that will likely never be finished to anyoneâs satisfaction anyway.
Where Hunter
Loving the Mountain Thane from a thematic/flavour perspective, reminds me of Mountain King from Warcraft 3 where it is all about Storm Bolt, Thunderclap and Avatar.
I still feel that Blademaster should be one of the hero specs for Fury/Arms, it is too iconic and hero specs is a good way to get hybrid specs with minor skill variations in. Have the capstone talent replace some of our kit with Mirror Image and Wind Walk, similar to how runes in SOD work for warlock tanks.
I mean weâre all just going to sim them anyway, right?
