Get an Early Look at Eight New Hero Talent Trees

This genuinely may be the most pointless system designed in any game. Ever. I genuinely don’t understand the point. All this does is add more unnecessary bloat to the game.

So, genuine question here, what would you want them to do instead?

I just want to know whats in store for me.
Is it going to be fun and awesome.
Or an oracle for priest that gets instantly reworked haha
These talents seem to be pretty important to how you play your spec going forwards.

Also, if theres any cool visuals that would be exciting too haha

Please give some much needed love to the destro talent tree

tying cataclysm to one of the talents now means our first-20 talent points in the destro tree is spoken for and we have practically 0 free talents to spend anywhere without feeling exponentially bad

we have too many talent points required to get everything and too many spells we want that just seem nested.

I am liking Diabolist right now!

Also liking Soul Harvester confirmed for demo/affliction. I was calling that.

Trickster Rogue is dead on arrival. It takes all the bad things of rogue and doubles down on it.

Or you pick the one that’s outlaw and assassination

Problem solved

Are there going to be individual feedback posts in the class forums like previous, or our we giving all our feedback here?
Also kinda feels like cheating with “8” when we’ve already seen elunes chosen :dracthyr_a1:

Its because druid has been included on all 3 of their lists.
Its annoying to see a class get included every time but your class getting left out every time.

They teased 8 new hero talents.
Variety was expected.

I really like Bloodseeker Vines as a concept, fantasy-wise. That’s very cool, and kind of a horrific concept to really think about.

The fact that they are reworking Oracle because people didn’t want the support part of it is why I won’t be choosing that Tree for my disc priest. I was excited for that

I feel the same way to be honest

As an “expansion feature” it just doesn’t give me that same “hype” factor or “nerdgasm” as previous expansions did

It’s like, you added a few new talent points on top of the already-existing 60+ talent points? What exactly is the big deal… I don’t get it :man_shrugging:

Ugh. I don’t want more PI micromanagement on my priest. I’ll be staying far away from Oracle I think.

Where is a rule/guideline they had to show one class per review?

Well you’re in luck cause they are reworking it to remove the PI support aspect apparently. So my hopes for it are ruined and yours aren’t :dracthyr_shrug:

Hope there’s a way to remove that hour long tricks of the trade, or there will be trolling potential with it.

Adding Feint to the rotation is a bad idea. Try Shiv for proccing whatever.

Elune’s chosen isnt even new though, neither was keeper of the grove they showed them off at blizzcon, wildstalker is the first actual new hero tree we’ve seen for druid.

Since they flat out said we get worked on first cause the 4 specs make us good for prototyping of course we’re gonna get shown, we’ve probably been locked in for all since blizzcon; and will end up halfbaked again, just like DF. Mid shown classes are the actual lucky ones, they get time after blizz figured out their gimmick, but arent rushed at end of development.

Some thoughts:

  • Colossus is boring. Over half the talents are passive damage increases and there’s almost no defensive benefit for Prot Warrior or utility options. This is the worst tree we’ve seen so far mechanically, in my opinion.
  • Herald of the Sun is MUCH cooler than Templar mechanically. HotS is very interconnected, with nearly every talent interacting in cool with ways with the new Sunspot mechanic. Meanwhile Templar feels like the designer just took every button that has a hammer animation and buffed it in some way, rather than really leaning into the Hammer of Light mechanic. I’m also concerned that when Retribution presses Wake of Ashes, they can use Hammer of Light right away but even with a talent that gives Eye of Tyr Holy Power generation, Protection needs at least 2 seconds to generate this ability. Moreover, it’s all damage and Protection uses Holy Power for their active mitigation, so they’re just supposed to let the 4-second Shield of the Righteous buff expire and get pasted? Templar just doesn’t seem good.
  • Wildstalker is neat, but like Templar feeling like, “Oh, Hammers!” this just feels like, “Oh, Hots / Dots!” This spec needs to do more with Blood Vines rather than buffing random abilities as often as it does.
  • Chosen of Elune has some of the issues of Wildstalker, wherein there’s a TON of random raw ability damage increases that doesn’t interact much with the core mechanic, but a few of the talents interact in ways that’s just cool. Like the one talent making Thrash arcane (meh), but the other making arcane spells reduce the main cooldown effect (OH). It’s a forest-for-the-trees mechanically and I like that.
  • Scalecommander is weird because none of the abilities are really interconnected thematically (Mass Spennder doesn’t really have anything to do with the Breath Cooldown focus the tree gets later on), but MAN the ability to steer your breath just seems TOO cool, I almost don’t care. I think the Bombardment mechanic should be the focus, not the Mass ability, and the Mass ability should be tied into Bombardments somehow. This otherwise feels close.
  • Diablist is cool. I liked how future talents really built up the Overlords you summon (nice Hazbin Hotel reference by the way), and I enjoy that it gives both the demon specs a reason to take Nether Portal. The utility options seem a little out of place, like the Howl of Terror ones, though.
  • Trickster seemed cool. I liked how it picked a bunch of the trickstery abilities and really meshed them all with the Unseen Blade theme. There’s a couple of weird outlires that I’m choosing to overlook like the 1-hour Tricks of the Trade; these don’t really fit in with the mechanical niche, but the flavor niche is there so I’m happy.

I think overall these trees seem less buff-maintency compared to Frostfire Mage. I think the team is clearly struggling to incorporate defensive options for tanks into these trees, likely because the concern is making DPS too tanky. But it means many of them feel like they ignore tank players. Also the Colossus is just bad. It’s all passive numbers with one or two mechanics built around a clearly cool Demolish mechanic. Build that up, make Demolish leave the Mortal Strike or Rend or SOMETHING on enemies.

The idea of being forced to use deep breath as a devastation evoker is terrible, it’s a very problematic spell, I’m not sure if being able to control the direction of flight will change this, after all I cause more damage if I don’t fly.
