Genuinely curious, do people actually like Plunderstorm?

It’s so far removed from wow PVP I can’t get into it

Is it popular?

Fun little battle royale, it’s not meant to play like WoW PvP, it’s a side game in the WoW engine.

I would probably like it more if my ms wasn’t terrible in it, but the delay on casting and bad hit registration make it pretty rough to enjoy.

Honestly, that’s a question that will get many different answers around here, and largely negative ones at that. In my opinion, you aren’t going to get many unbiased or positive responses.

We obviously don’t have the numbers, but the first iteration was quite popular, especially amongst the streaming crowd. There were even community events and stuff being organized by the player base.

Haven’t been paying any attention to that stuff, but I don’t see why it would be any different this time around. Even once the plunder farmers clear out, I’m pretty confident that it’ll hold up well enough despite the drop in players.

It scratches a very specific itch, so it was never designed to appeal to everyone. The Plunderstore helped with that though.

The first time around, a lot of people were turned off by the renown track. Now that they can pick and choose what they want, it’s going to attract more people. Some of them may turn out to be big fans of the mode.

Do people actually like retail wow pvp

I like it well enough. It’s a different skillset then wow pvp, and most importantly its low pressure. It also helps that you can feel yourself surrounded by people having a worse time then you are having, which is a very special thing in pvp.

It’s the most fun I’ve had in PvP in a long time. Goated game mode. Wish there were more maps, more rewards, etc.

Right. I’ll jump into arenas at the end of a season once I get bored of raiding and M+ but I couldn’t imagine playing it for a full season.

But I also think vanilla PvP with the leaderboard system was the pinnacle of PvP in this game so it’s probably a pretty minority take. Arenas started the slow downfall of PvP.

Played it last time for the rewards. I would’ve played it this time, if I could get tender again, but since the tender rewards didn’t reset, if you got them last time, I won’t be playing.

They release it during lulls in content to keep us on the hook, nobody I know enjoys it beyond some quick cosmetics. If it was a PvP Mode with your average Battleground rewards it would be dead on arrival.

It’s nothing like WoW PVP.

I do enjoy it, it’s a lot of fun.

I think it’s interesting but I have no desire to run around and play a br all day.

Same as if they had put a Chess Tournament into the game to earn mounts, pets, cosmetics.

People who enjoy Chess would enjoy that.

This isn’t a bad analogy, but I think more folks playing WoW would enjoy that. Simply because one could make it into a WoW chess and play more distinctively and uniquely.

We had it back during Karazhan and it would be interesting to see what they would do if they were to implement a bunch of different mini games like those, but make them work from a modern perspective. It’d certainly be a cool thing to have something like that and then have one of the weekly activities maybe have you play a few rounds of it with or against other players.

Point is that I think one can make these things more appealing to WoW players. At least more than what WoW’s battle royale does, since it genuinely isn’t that much else than just an activity for a few hours to get some pirate-themed cosmetics (as it isn’t that great of a battle royale and doesn’t play anything like WoW).

I don’t like it, I just gather and kill things and try to avoid player’s.

When a player spots me I just let them kill me, because it’s just too confusing to remember which button does what other then the 2 I know. My reactions are a bit slow since it’s not my character I always play.

I’m almost done with it, apparently those cute sad eyes grabbed my attention with the pets when I was only there for the mogs.

Whether people enjoy it or not is hard to say. People will often claim to enjoy things as a way of rationalizing the need to engage with those things for a reward that they want.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I enjoy for a while, but once I have the rewards I stop.

I’d prefer to see it as a permanent fixture so that people who want all the rewards can take their time with it.

I think it’s alright. I’m primarily a PVE player, so it lets me dabble a little in some violence while earning neat rewards for my efforts.

I hated it with a passion at first until I got the hang of the different options as far as playstyle(Murderhobo, Stormrunner, Whatever-a-balance-of-the-two-would-be).

I managed to get all the rewards the first time around. And after sacrificing a morning, I obtained everything from the current one. I feel like it has improved, but it is still just ‘ok’ for me. Not bad for a quick change of pace from my usual WoW shenanigans.

Because Blizzard payed them which I don’t believe they did this time which is why the bulk of them are still in Classic lol.

I’m a WoW PvPer predominantly, and I don’t really enjoy Plunder.

It’s just a totally different game, with WoW thematics.

Tried to force myself to play it the first time for rewards, didn’t make it far at all.

Looked at the rewards again, decided I’m good ahah.

I like it better than I like WoW PVP, but that’s a low bar because I hate WoW PVP.

I like that everyone starts from the same level with the same “gear”. I like that if you don’t like PVP there’s a path to grind rewards anyway once you get good enough at evading other people, and I really like that the reward structure was revamped to make the grind infinitely less of a slog.

I was able to get everything I wanted in two days. Granted…that’s not great for the long term metrics of the mode, but once reluctant people like me enticed by cosmetics, mounts and pets drop out it’ll be a better gauge of how people are liking it anyway.
