Gearing is an outdated concept

I, like many other people, take breaks from the game. You know what makes it hard to come back? The gear. Gearing up is a 2000 concept that needs to go the way of the dodo.

If I don’t play heroes of the Storm for a year, guess what, o can be in a game and playing in 5 minutes. The same thing can be said for:

Monster Hunter
Call of duty
Hearthstone
Star craft
The Witcher
Rust

Basically any game ever

And yet if I want to come back to wow. First I have to spend 40 hours grinding gear just to have a chance to raid or world pvp or do what I wanted to do. That should not be the case!

Gearing is and will always be a fundamental part of WoW.

But this is a trollpost, so here’s you reply.

None of those are MMORPGs, so lets compare apples with apples.

You can blame raids reducing to five members instead of 25, instead of 10, you know, basically instead of raids.

It’s also a matter of pretty much any RPG.

A hero in DnD is often driven by quests that offer them new and better gear.

So yeah, there is always going to be a drive for gear. In any RPG based game.

You’re the one who made the topic about overentitled raiders, weren’t you? Ironic.

Anyway, gearing isn’t hard.

Step 1. Have at least 4 other friends.
Step 2. Run mythics.

Step 1 is kind of optional.

To clarify on my post, the members available to join raids and dungeons are now prioritized by who can complete the instance, rather than bodies thrown at the bosses and spawns. Gearing has always been a thing both in MMO as well as offline RPG. Don’t believe me? Beat Final Fantasy 1 with starter gear at level 1. Or even starter gear at level 50

Gearing is what an MMORPG is about though. The games you rattled off aren’t MMORPGs. You conveniently avoided that fact.

EVERY. SINGLE. MMORPG…has gearing as a major element in it.

In short, your point is made irrelevant.

Could you imagine if this game were based on skill alone? I have seen many players make the argument that they deserve such high ilvl gear from trivial content like world quests because they should be able to fight off NPC’s just like everyone else. Imagine the rage that players would have if they had to use skill instead of ilvl boosts for all content.

Oh, man. lol

At this point I’m not agaisn’t removing gear from the game with the mess that azerith pieces, sockets, titanforging or benthic gear cause. But if you think that would remove grind for power in the game let me look at AP and essence system xd

OP, you missed Sunday by a day. You’re just on a trolling warpath, huh?

I would be cool with real, legit PvP servers equalizing gear.

Let us choose our gear arena style, set our talents, glyphs, and then faceroll.

No need to level, gear or any of that.

The most casual yet hardcore PvP experience.

In other words, public facing Arena and BG servers with no quests and town barriers (just your own faction’s town with barriers preventing outside exploration), so all you do is log in, choose your free gear from vendors and queue for battlegrounds, RBGs, war games (guild scheduled war games?!? :D) and arenas.

Frees up the “PvE” environments to be whatever it is they want, since they obviously don’t have PvP prioritized there.

I 100% disagree with you OP. If your not grinding gear you are grinding ap levels, pick your poison.
