They aren’t trying to bring back anything. They just want systems that keep you subbed over a few months.
Classic is here to try to get old players to give modern WoW a chance and to make sure no 3rd party (player run servers) can make money off their IP.
Nothing in Shadowlands looks like it was taken from Classic. If anything it looks like Legion Lite with slightly less RNG.

Benthic gear with gem slots is better than most of what you can obtain doing raids/mythic +, and unrated/rated PVP.
Entire gearing system is a mess and patch 8.3 is going to make it worse with corrupt forged gear.
If PVP gear had gem slots along with raid gear a lot of complaints would quiet down. But mythic + this expansion has been on the down swing as well.
Basically known gem slots from gear needs to make a comeback for the entire health of the game. I think this is what Blizz is leaning towards for shadowlands.

I could easily do a few hours a bgs a day and get mostly honor geared. I don’t expect to be optimal but having full honor gear made you very competitive with those who did rated arena or not. This was back when vendors were a thing. Now I can get full honor gear and still get smoked by someone who just does mythic plus. You literally either need to do rated pvp or pve to get gear and some toons I just don’t want to mplus on.
Just bring back resilience and I would be happy at this point.

Random bgs = lfr. Neither are there for gear. And there are ppl ilv430+ with no M+ or raids done by playing random bg’s.

you dont get 430 items until way later in the pvp season.
i miss having the option to buy what i want first.
you know player choice.

And yet random BGs used to give not only the honor set, but the conquest set if you did enough of them. You know, BiS gear during MoP and WoD. It was slow, but you could still eventually have your BiS even just doing randoms.

The ONLY reason we don’t get PvP vendors is because they don’t want people bypassing their terrible PvE gearing system with the much more convenient, streamlined and time saving PvP one.

Whole gearing system is tedious and dry.
I admire those that can’t put themselves through all of this knowing it will be wiped away clean in a patch.
Yeah it was pretty dumb system.
Honor and conquest sets worked so well it just makes little sense to remove them, the current system is no bueno, Mr. Ion.
I have 3 trophies sitting in my bags because I have no item worth upgrading, the 1 item that would be a great improvement for me isn’t available from the conquest cap options so I’d have to spam queue hoping it might drop and pray it sockets.
But since everything is a destro lock, fire mage or dh right now I rather play other games.

This, if pvp players get to target specific pieces of gear with a vendor, pve players will want the same thing with mythics, and then we wouldnt have to run them 200 times, which would be very bad for us players.
Better to have random gear of random ilvl drop from all content so you just blindly farm and slowly creep up in power no matter what, just farm longer, looks good for DAUs.

When 8.3 drops PVP gear and mythic raiding will be the only source of Mythic level loot.
So feel better that your preferred game play is not the only one being shat on.

You are still several weeks behind. At this point you should have 430 trinkets and azerite as well.
The people defending the abomination that is the current system remind me of those California lawmakers banning rat posion because protecting the wildlife is a good thing. Nevermind if they are spreading typhus and potentially the plague.

Doing raids is a much of a waste of my time . I get nothing in return . Not even a ring or a free ice cream cone .
This is actually hilarious proof that pvers are the ones that get themselves nerfed.
Arcane torrent was nerfed for pve! It was the literal explanation they gave when they did it. It was busted in dungeons 
blizzard doesn’t go near precious pvers with their PvP fixes.
