Tried out the Gear Update feature on Tuesday. First toon (level 47 Warrior) worked no problem. When I tried it out on my level 60 DK, however, it never completes. I’m stuck locked out of that toon.
I submitted a ticket and the GM ran an update on my account but that still didn’t fix it. Was advised to post here plus put in an in-game bug report.
Anyone else having this issue?
This just happened to my lvl 54 druid last night. Has anything fixed yours yet?
Same problem for me. I also lost the icons for me to upgrade my other characters, even on different realms. I can log onto my druid no problem (my main). I did a few upgrades shortly after the patch with no problem but when I went to do it last night (7.16.23) i started to have problems.
Same here, it’s been 2 days now and I cannot log in. I submitted a ticket and got a response saying they do not know when it will be resolved.
Having a similar issue. The character update was taking forever, and then I got disconnected during (unrelated issue). Now, the welcome back gift option is gone, and I can’t login to that character “until the character boost I initiated has completed”.
I’ve had the same issue for the last two days. I upgraded one character, but now the option is gone on the others.
I am to having the same problem. I did it yesterday and came back today, still won’t let me on them.

Tried upgrading a mage Cogg-Eonar(EU). It didn’t appear to go through the first time so I tried again. On the character select screen the character has a button that says it’s processing. If you highlight the character the screen changes to a character select page superimposed with a LUA error. At that point I needed to alt+F4 to get away from that screen. I am able to log into another character without using the gear-upgrade option.

Anyone had any luck on this? Mine has completely locked me out the game. Every time I open the game it goes straight to the new character screen and I can’t go anywhere from there. I’ve tried uninstalling and re-installing and still having the same issue.
This gear update issue happened for me on July 14. After still being unable to login the next morning on the 15th, I submitted a ticket and started a thread in the customer support forum. They have known about the issue since at least the 15th.
A number of us had hoped it would be resolved after Tuesday maintenance but that didn’t happen. I’ve been playing Evoker to keep me busy, but I’m finding it awkward and underwhelming. I really feel they should offer those us that recently purchased the game and continue to pay the subscription fee an upgrade from the base level copy of the game or at least the included character boost so that we can enjoy the new content on our preferred class. They did offer to refund the game, but that’s not supporting your player base. Are we going to have to wait another week until the next maintenance?
Same issue for me I have been locked out of my main for four days now… Just came back to wow after 3 years away and not a great starting experience.
That’s the problem I’m having. I had more available, and I logged in the other day to them just missing.
When I logged in this afternoon, all three toons were fixed! Double check your toons, everyone!
This also happened to me, I was in the middle of trying to upgrade a characters gear and it got stuck. After that the gear update option was gone from all of my characters. I had it available on at least 20 more characters. Is there any news on this if they will be fixing it? I’d like to login to my other characters but don’t want to ruin my chance of doing the upgrade >_< It’d be really nice if Blizzard would let us know what’s going on with this…
Just an update: This is now fixed for me. I checked to see if it was fixed or not and it wasn’t so I opened a ticket. 27 minutes later I went to the login screen and they are all back. Could be a coincidence shrug. I had also heard there was an issue that doing the upgrade was counting as a character boost which would mess up getting your heritage armor and some other things. I did the upgrade on my worgen that hasn’t done the heritage quests yet and logged in. The heritage quest is available for me so it sounds like they fixed that too.
Now you see it Now you don’t . I had the gear selection back long enough to upgrade 2 characters and now the feature is missing again.
