Gear drops are all lower than my ilvl? How can I change this?

My main is an Alliance 120 Balance Druid, ilvl 352. For 2-3 weeks I get nothing but 335 or less in WQ, dungeons, PvP, battlegrounds, and raids. In Warfronts I get some 340 swag or a titan/warforge that is significantly less than a piece of gear I already have…what can I do? I can’t complete Battle for Boralus quest because I can’t queue for the dungeon. This is my 1st max level character and expansion; and it is the 1st time I have done dungeons, raids and such…I don’t understand how to progress my character and I am finding no in game information to help.

Because my character is Alliance the Raids and Battlegrounds are really unbalanced in favor of Horde and difficult get wins.

Island Expeditions don’t drop gear, mounts, I have gotten 1 pet (which I don’t care much about). Once in a while I will get an azurite boost of 1500 - 2500 to my HoA.

Do you mean Siege of Boralus? If so, I believe it’s a mythic only dungeon so you can’t queue for it through LFD/LFR. As Alliance, you need to complet the Pride of Kul Tiras storyline to quality for it. Other than that, I don’t think there’s an hard ilvl requirement.

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding your question. I’m not at all familiar with the mythic dungeon scene so hopefully someone else will be along with better info shortly.

I completed the Pride of Kulfis Tiras on 11/27/18 but I can’t queue for the dungeon because can’t get to Mythic. I can’t advance my character for weeks now because am not get ANY gear drops that improve what I have for 2-3 weeks now. It is absurd. I am new to the forums like everything else, I want my Druid in question to be the thumbnail for my original post…haven’t figured that out either…I’m just stuck!!!..thank you for your reply.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think you can queue for that dungeon at all. I think you can only access it with a pre-formed group since it’s mythic only.

I understand your frustration from not getting gear drops that improve your ilvl, though. Good luck.

You don’t queue for Mythics you physically run to each dungeon and enter them. You can use the Premade groups finder to get into a seige or any other mythic. You can even start your own mythic and do it that way.

No you can not, you are going to need a group of players, and complete it in Mythic difficulty only.

I saw the custom group option, but I felt that I should have some game experience of the Dungeon before making a group, or the results would likely be bad; especially since I haven’t done any Mythic yet.
Is there anyway I can change the original post to reflect my Druid main character…the one I am replying with? And, yes I did mean Siege of Boralus, but now it seems I can’t edit the original post.

Thank you. I did enter the dungeon and left because enemies to big to solo.

To echo what Truthspeaker and the others have said:

  1. You cannot queue for any mythics.
  2. Siege of Boralus is a mythic-only dungeon.
  3. Ergo, you cannot queue for Siege of Boralus.

That said:

  • 352 is significantly higher than the ilevel intention of base-level mythics.
  • WQ gear isn’t designed to scale infinitely; for the most powerful gear, you will need to:
    – raid (this includes world raid bosses)
    – complete special events (e.g. the Arathi warfront quest)
    – pursue difficult dungeons (like mythic+)

Hopefully that’s clear. Good fortune to you.

Edit:

I’m afraid not.

Thank you for reply. Why is Blizzard no longer dropping me any useable gear? How do I progress?

Run harder dungeons and raids.

Thank you for responding. I am obviously a noob. I have been pursueing the highest level dungeons I can queue for Heroic…I get blue gear drops …oh and green!!!:frowning:

Thank you for replying. It seems ridiculous that the gear dropped is so much lower than my item level, and it didn’t used to do this the game.

Just wanted to re-emphasize these two. World bosses have a chance to drop 370 gear and there’s one quest every warfront cycle that guarantees you a piece of 370 gear. RNG still applies so the piece you get may not be the one you need, but those are your options for higher level non-dungeon and raid gear atm.

In a week or so when 8.1 hits, ilvl of drops will shift and be higher than they are now. I think. I’m not sure, exactly.

In any event, gear item level reflects the difficulty of the content being done. At ilvl 352, you’ve just about maxed out how much you can progress outside of raiding. That’s kind of always been the case. You do dungeons and the basic end game content and then you move on to raiding if you want to progress further.

In 8.1, there’s also going to be a currency system introduced so you can replace or upgrade your azerite gear by scrapping or disenchanting old pieces. The highest gear able to be purchased will be 385, I believe, but that will come with the highest price tag. Still, it’s a gearing option.

Great post! I have completed all of Arathi Warfronts twice. The 1st time I got all my best gear. The 2nd time I got weak reproductions of what I already have, but I have plenty of slots that could have been benefited had they dropped in those item slots. I have killed most if not all the rare monsters I think except the big raptor/t-rex.

As a new user I have reached my 3 reply limit on my Druid toon in this forum.

My raids so far I am way under geared to most of my opponents…I die a lot. and generally the opposing horde tunes are stronger than my Alliance associates:)…I feel I am not understanding some nuances. But I haven’t gotten feedback from the other players…as soon as the raid is over everyone is adios. I am on a tuff learning curve right now.

There’s a second warfront coming in 8.1 which will presumably provide additional gearing options.

I didn’t have a chance to read all of your post before you deleted it, but I’m glad you’ve done the warfronts a couple of times and have farmed the Arathi rares.

I don’t do dungeons, raids or pvp so the world bosses, warfronts and Arathi rares have been major sources of gear for me. Patience is key.

I wish you much luck to you in your raiding endeavors. If you have specific questions about aspects of the raid, you might consider asking in that forum and seeing if anyone has advice.

PS: As for the three post limit, stick around a bit and read some threads and you should get bumped to trust level 2 which will allow you to post more.

Edited to add: Yay, you brought your post back and I did read it all.

Just to specifically break it down more for you, and I hope this helps.

In the pre-made group look for mythic dungeons. This will be a much better source of chance for upgrades. Heroic drops 325 iLevel. Mythic will get yoh 340

As you learn the dungeons try t ok complete a mythic plus. You find this in the same spot. These are timed runs. Deaths cost you 5 seconds off your time each. The higher the key, the higher the base reward. There will also be a chest at the end.of the week with a piece of gear.

Lastly, try to run LFR Uldir all wings each week. I believe base gear is 340. Ad you feel more and more comfortable, try to find a normal group. It is a little more difficult, but the fear is 355

Hope that helps a little

Maybe you just misspoke here, but if not then I think you might be confusing battlegrounds and raids. Battlegrounds are PvP: Alliance team vs Horde team. Raids are like dungeons but bigger and usually have more complicated mechanics. Uldir is the current raid.
Edit: forgot to say Mastadon gave more details about raids and ilevels. Hope all this helps.

Was able to get a freshly dinged 120 to 370 in about a week, mostly farming M+ dungeons. Granted some luck is involved with the tf/wf’s, but basically how i did it was starting with low keys and just gradually moved up. Other methods you could try are normal (355 drops) / heroic (370 drops) uldir or RBGs/Arenas above 1400 rating for 350+ loot. (below 1400 is 340+)
