Gear difference should be minimum

A player with best gear compared to average gear should only be a few % stronger, not 300%

The number you are looking for is 30-40%. Realistically the difference in power between Honor and Conquest gear should be 30-40%. Getting a BiS item should feel impactful and change your gameplay creating excitement and want to log in to own it up.

We don’t live in a world anymore where it’s Honor and Conquest gear we need Conduits, Legendaries, Soulbinds etc.

So obviously it’s more than that due to borrowed power and different systems. Realistically though we don’t need any balance for fun RPG PvP. So if power gap is huge then you can just enjoy the best part of the game which is getting GEAR. It’s why we log in. We play this gear based game because attaining new power is exciting and why we play.

Remember the days of seeing someone really geared and being kinda afraid like holy crap he has Shadowmorne and is fully decked out. That should happen again! When we see an Epicly geared player it should strike fear into your heart knowing that you better get some friends if plan on trying to fight him. That is what an RPG is about.

So lets just disagree because only a few % doesn’t fit RPG PvP at all. Trying to make it a few % with Templates/Scaling also failed and wasn’t what the majority of players wanted. We are here to be extremely powerful and strike fear into our enemy because we are wielding the power of Gods.

Dont tell me the number im looking for. Speak for yourself

There is actual models of power progression for MMORPGs. They are philosophies on how power progression should be. It’s not like I am just making up a number. This is an MMORPG game that is based on gear progression. The Devs need to design gear that is exciting and for upgrades to feel impactful that is literally their job.

So I was speaking on behalf of game design. Don’t shoot the messenger. So when I say the number you are looking for is 30-40% and that gear should be impactful. That is what you should expect playing an RPG PvP game. Has nothing to do with me or you just understanding the actual game you Subbed for.

Lets not forget the best and most balanced PvP came during the largest power gaps in old expansions. TBC/Wrath. We are faced with new problems though with borrowed power and systems. They overly complicate the situation.

If you sign up to play an RPG PvP game and you should expect at least a 30-40% difference in power. Granted some higher power gaps can also be fun. WoW is an RPG PvP game so you should expect that. Is all I was saying.

5-10% max difference between honor and mythic raid gear imo. It’s how it used to be.

I said a few % difference imo. You dont have to agree

Yes and a few % is wrong design for an RPG PvP game. It’s isn’t about agreeing it’s about understanding what is correct and incorrect for an RPG PvP game.

Thought I was clear on that in my previous post. If you want it to be a few % then you are playing a game that isn’t supposed to be designed that way.

Wrong (in your opinion)

The best PvP happened before mythic raiding. No one thinks that PvP was good once Mythic raids came out they also delivered us the worst expansions.

Pre WoD is when PvP was great in this game. The best PvP expansions are those 4 which ever one you choose. The best game/class design was then too.

RPG game design isn’t an opinion. You are going to struggle if you don’t like RPGs and sign up to play RPG games. That is like going into a job you absolutely hate or being mad at Wendy’s for not serving sushi. You are looking for what you want in the wrong places. So I think you should evaluate your situation and ask if you can have fun in an RPG game.

I actually agree with all of this.

Game design: Please no.

Noone takes your opinion as gospel abomb. Youre entitled to your opinion but kicking and screaming because people dont agree with you is childish. U say its not about agreeing but understanding, while you dont seem to understand or respect opinions other than your own.

The power gap back then was really high though :joy: You had set bonuses, 1 or 2 BiS PvE items. Professions mattered a lot with BS and JC gems. Racials were stronger etc…

Yet the old expansions gave us by far the best PvP.

Power gap in pvp should be 5% max. (Which is still a huge advantage)

The gap didn’t feel large because honor gear was much more competitive and raiding wasn’t as common as it is now so less people had BiS gear. Plus no WoW token so less raid sales.

The gear the “majority” could get felt stronger and the best gear was very very rare. Now you can just farm 4 difficulties for op trinkets.

If someone needs to be 30-50% stronger than average players to win, do they really deserve to win? I would argue no. Anomb would argue yes because its an mmo…

Not in an RPG game where the reason we play is gear. Sorry 5% isn’t considered impactful by RPG standards so you are wrong. No one gets a new items that is barely stronger than the last and gets excited. However if you get a BiS item and you start deleting people that creates excitement in an RPG. You need powerful items.

Going to let this thread die because your ideas are bad for World of Warcraft. You are here to plan an RPG game and if you aren’t you are just in the wrong game. Again reread this.

Yes because it’s an RPG game and they played the CORE aspect of the game which was attaining power. That is what this game is about it’s a 2 step process you get power first then test your skills with that power.

You have a lot to learn. I wish you luck. Spend some time reflecting on these post.

Heres the thing you dont seem to understand abomb, idc whats considered impactful by your rpg standards, i care whats considered impactful by my standards and what i think a healthy pvp gear power swing should feel like.
