Speaking of design subversion, what would you getting warlord with less hks than a ranker would get in a week be considered?
Sure doesn’t seem like you take “design subversion” too seriously yourself

Working as intended. Don’t project megaserver problems onto the rest of Classic WoW.
Yeah im sure blizzard “intended” for servers to exist with a population small enough to count on your fingers
Actual clown🤡
Gold is merely a resource. On Grobb in classic, there was a PeacebloomDKP Molten Core run for the Horde side to promote Peacebloom farming to unlock the AQ gates. It didn’t quite work out as the planning was scuffed, but the concept of using farmable resources either in materials or gold or consumables for the guild is a novel idea. Similarly, some guilds choose to let people “buy” DKP by donating to the guild GSPP or LIPs or Flasks or any manner of consumes to facilitate the cost of raiding and reward their efforts with DKP as points of value for contributing to the guild.
The issue is when real money gets involved as that circumvents the value of time spent farming or creating these items in game. Then the path to gear, gold and glory is not spent in hours within the game, but rather how much money someone has in the bank.
Yep, using my abundance of Dreamfoils as a form of currency to get other things I need worked wonders!
“There is no defending this intentional design subversion”
It’s here
It’s not going away
If you don’t like it, then don’t play it
Correction: it’s quarentined
Just confirmed GDKPs are still cringe
The way I see it, if people no longer ever need Naxx for example, you’re stuck with nobody to run naxx with. Thus, you can never get geared for Ulduar (or the soon to arrive ToGC) GDKP give an incentive to people who don’t need anything to be a body to run old content.
Without a carrot on a stick for people, there’s very little reason to bother doing something they’ve nothing to gain from.
Yeah, that’s called using the AH and selling the flowers to buy BoE or whatever else.
GDKP only reinforces this self-centered mindset. It has entirely consumed the progression servers’ culture but I am thankful it’s not as prolific in Classic Era. Players don’t need an immediate reward to raid. They can be helping their fellow faction members gear up, complete quest objectives, or attempt to set new personal best records in performance.
GDKP strips away the novelty of raids and reduces them to a soulless transaction for imaginary gold.
Then you’ll have nobody doing older content because they don’t need it, you’re behind and you stay left behind.
This may have been a compelling comment 15 years ago. It’s meaningless now.
But why though?
It’s a Classic thing. You wouldn’t get it.
Because Classic has connected realms?
and, among other things, no token
Yes, on paper GDKP does not technically require RMT. On paper.
Unfortunately we are in reality, and in reality GDKP encourages RMT without fail.
So does:
Auction house
Guilds
Mounts
Professions
PvP
No one takes you seriously, you buy raiding gear with gold lol.
Hows the view from that piggy back?
