I don’t think what follows is a good idea. Once again, if you’re reading this, I’m am not advocating what I’m about to say.
If you’re trying to take gold out of the game couldn’t you have a weekly tax or gold decay? I don’t know, I’m not an economist, just a man with a crippling wow addiction.
You could, but this would probably be worked around by trading between accounts or leaving in the mailbox. It wouldn’t solve the problem either, and would likely hurt most average players than gold sellers/buyers.
that is actually a great question that has plagued many game devs of the years.
there is honestly no real simple answer because players themselves contribute to the over reaching issue of inflation.
bots and rmt traders just pray on players and those players give in for various reasons.
many players learn how to effectively farm currency because of optimization and again various other reasons which again contributes to the issue.
games like final fantasy 14 had the solution of just knocking some gil out of everyone’s pocket. people were mad and some quit for good.
others attempt to put more things into the game to purchase like expensive mounts or cosmetic items like retail wow.
or adjust drop rates on raw currency, like wow did at the start of cata with many old raids so as to decrease the amount of raw gold you’d get from killing many old raid bosses.
but once its in players hands, its hard to make disappear. especially in classic wow.
They want mommy blizzard to come out and ban them.
Weird they aren’t petitioning for better anti-bot/cheat service and instead focus all their energy into hating GDKPs.
It’s almost like their actually just jealous and pissed off because someone else got a new shiny toy and they didn’t, that or they spend to much time on reddit instead of the game and have fallen pray to the reddit hate-everything hivemind.
Honestly if it wasn’t for Reddit blowing everything out of proportion half the morons in this forum wouldn’t even be aware that bots were a thing.
But they see an angry reddit post with a bunch of angry posters and like the sheep that they are they get angry and parrot everything reddit says here.
The whole “Players are to blame for this problem, not blizzard!” stance people are taking actually disgusts me.
Blizzard caused this problem, nobody else, lets tackle this problem at the root level instead of pointing fingers at everyone.
They absolutely are not lol. If the GDKP runs on my server were anything to go by, I can name you 15 people right now in those runs that admit to buying gold to gear their alts. And you can reasonably assume the number of people in those runs who haven’t openly admitted to buying gold brings it to a majority of the people in those runs.
GDKP as a concept is fine. But in reality it plays out as a detriment to WoW Classic that perpetuates the cycle of botting > gold selling > GDKP. You can argue that GDKPs aren’t the only reason, but they are the biggest.
There will never be legitimate gdkps with legitimate gold now that there’s people on every server with literally hundreds of thousands of gold from botting and RMT.
What difference does it make where the bought gold is spent? The point is banning one and not the others makes no sense and doesn’t address the problem. Attack the buyers and sellers, not activities that affect legit players and non legit players alike.
so where does all the gold INITIALLY come from? We all know the answer… the fact that you aren’t the one buying the gold or botting the gold doesn’t make GDKP “perfectly fine”.
The fact is without gold buying and bots that much gold being handed out would not be there in the first place.
yes that’s exactly what I’m suggesting. sorry but in classic RL players are not farming thousands upon thousands of gold. Willie on youtube literally did a mathematical explanation on how a real person just isn’t
dude you are just wrong, it’s not that I dont’ know how to farm gold… that is just stupid. people know all the ways to do it… if you think there’s some SUPER SEKRET way people don’t know you are just being ignorant… it’s bots and you know it.
It’s been proven mathematically, you can’t dispute this fact.
