GDKP is just money laundering but in a video game

Yeah because that’s how you raid in wotlk.

You press frostbolt.

Tell me you’re terrible at the game without telling me you’re terrible at the game

Blizz literally said GDKPs are used to launder rmt gold.

Except 1 side is right and 1 side isn’t

That’s why blizzard banned gdkps and didn’t ban non gdkps

Not in the updated thing they didn’t

Say 10 people in raid

5 people rmt
5 people don’t
They all bid and win gear, give the gold to the host (who sells gold)
As soon as it’s in his inventory it’s washed, he can then redisperse it via mail or trade

Every adjustment to a rule or continuation of a rule has to have every last iteration of that rule said in the new implementation?

Wouldn’t it be easier to say something along the lines of “based on our data of past rule enforcements we will continue”

Think about it

But RMT and laundering money are two different things.

Laundering money is a crime. RMT is just against ToS.

I can see the argument that GDKs might fuel RMT… even though personally I’m skeptical. But how is that linked to money laundering? Makes no sense to me.

Can someone explain?

Gold laundering, the currency used in gdkps

Well shoot, as long as you capitalized it we definitely won’t worry about the fact that we’re not seeing a lot of citations in your posts either…

Haha yea I’ve seen him post before. Every now and then you gotta play with the trolls. Truth be told, I’m not sure if he believes what he’s saying, or just being a troll.

Your post makes me suspicious you’re trolling…

Hate trolls! Almost as bad as truckers

K, that I understand. So, not real money laundering then?

So this is crazy talk?

I’m honestly not. But people keep saying GDKPs are linked to RL money laundering and that seems a stretch to me.

Gdkps launder money (gold)

The syndicates that run these gold selling gdkp groups also run bot / hacking syndicates and other forms of illicit activity in which they would launder their money to prevent detection.

Now I know this is a very small minority of gdkps, but it does and is happening. This is a reason blizzard shut them down, to restrict and limit their potential.

That’s fair, just that my nose was telling me something. Here…

“It’s probably a little bit too soon to say, but I think my knee-jerk initial reaction of playing the game on multiple servers a lot is yeah, I’ve noticed a lot less advertisements and things like that. It’s given us the opportunity to crack down on things a little bit more easily. Not just gold selling and botting but gold buying.”

“GDKP is an excellent way to launder money and an excellent way to obfuscate the movement of illicit gold. Without that sort of shield, it’s making it a lot easier for us to clean up other things and be a little bit more steadfast about other aspects of the economy.”

That’s straight from Blizzard. They also say their reactions are mostly anecdotal (at that point). The fact that they continue the ban with Anniversary is evidence that the data did end up supporting their initial thoughts.

Also, they say most people have already moved on and accepted the ban. And that was a year ago. The handful of pro-gdkp stragglers on the forum means, quite literally, nothing.

More derailing and insults.

Every post is against TOS.

Can you ever stop and actually contribute to a thread for once?

You’re 40 years old so maybe act like it.

That’s the sod 1, now link the updated Anni 1 that removed the rmt part.

Oh you won’t tho because it doesn’t fit your narrative.

I never claimed what amount of gdkps are carries or more like mine.

You’re claiming 1 is the majority.

Remember when you said 100% and then you backpedaled that when I called it out?

We all do.

The gdkps that would take pure buyers were definitely the majority. Not even close

That’s the outdated version.

Here’s the updated Anni version that removed the rmt and laundering part that he obviously won’t link because it counters his narrative and he’s disingenuous.
