Lol so much gibberish
GDKP BWL runs were being done towards the end of Vanilla when a lot of guilds that were deep in Naxx stopped running BWL or when people wanted BWL for for alts so it definitely can be a part of classic.
On my server GDKP runs have actually overtaken normal pug raids. A lot of people just don’t need anything from these raids anymore and would rather make gold raiding.
from my experience there are legit gkp runs, usually ran by guilds with reputation.
and there are sketchy gkp pugs from trade chat.
people seem pretty bias, because like donkies said, the logic of “pay to win” can be applied to almost every other scenario in the game ie mounts, expensive epics on AH, etc.
imagine that 10 fully geared people who have nothing to do find 10 alts or new characters that want an easy hookup for gear. nothing is wrong with gold as incentive to run an easy raid like ZG. everyone wins.
Everyone in the raid gets gold at the end. You dont have to buy gold when you get gold just for being there. Epic mounts are more incentive to buy gold than gdkp would ever be.
Ok, so let’s talk about paid boosting.
An epic mount costs 1000 gold.
A paid boost through stockades costs 3g.
I think the most I’ve seen a boost go for on my server is 15g for ZG?
Run the numbers on it, actually look at the total cost to paid boost to 60. Is it more or less expensive than the epic mount? By how much? Because if it’s less, an epic mount is more of an incentive to buy gold than boosting is. Most people will not spend 1000g on boosts.
With that established, your position is clearly not about the amount of gold spent. You feel gold should not be used to purchase certain things. Again, a fine opinion to have. But silly.
How bout crafted gear? Lionheart helm, hide of the wild, truefaith, etc. All heavy gold sinks. Epic BoEs? Cloudkeeper, Edgemasters?
Cheaters are still gonna cheat without GDKP and paid boosts. We know this because these services weren’t as popular the first time round, but cheating DEFINITELY still was. Many people will not cheat and use GDKP and paid boosts.
Finally, why is it the player’s responsibility to deal with cheaters? Why should I EVER limit my gameplay options because someone who is not me, may decide to cheat?
Blizzard should ban the cheaters. That is blizzard’s role. The players are not responsible or part of the problem in the slightest. The fact you even think this is something I should be responsible for shows exactly how much Blizzard has been failing to run their game properly.
You are terrible at arguing in good faith. Or you can’t read.
donkies has valid points. stay mad bud ^^^ . haters gonna hate.
You are entitled to your opinion.
But generally, when I see someone reply with insults and no examples, I consider it hot air.
I hope they are getting banned along with the boosters. GDKP is of the most cancerous imports from Asian MMO culture.
dont forget that most of the time in regular /roll groups, people often try to get the item when they dont even really need it and then sell it to the first person who whispers them with an offer.
Its actually in a lot of ways more fun and interesting than regular loot distribition runs.
Not to mention its subject to less corruption.
I have no opinion on GDKP either way, but;
Even if they are banned, how would that stop people from doing them?
People will just advertise in discords and post bids in there, and I wouldnt trust Blizz with the enforcement of something like that
I’d rather just contact a guild leader and offer to buy gear that they expect to disenchant anyway (e.g. Crossbow of Smiting).
GDKP is a fair system of loot distribution, and honestly that’s all I care about when I join as a PUG. Not everyone has a schedule or the inclination to commit to a 40 man raiding team and systems like GDKP allow more players access to the content. When done right it is fine.
To elaborate on fair – everyone shares in the loot in GDKP, there is nothing owed later. The folks who buy the drops pay into the pot, and the folks who do not get drops get the consolation prize of a decent chunk of gold. There’s no feeling that you were unlucky or that you are being skipped. And eventually your pot of gold might be redeemed for the items you want from a future raid. It’s a perfectly fine way of “cashing out” DKP for an irregular group of folks.
But I can see the argument that GDKP is a backdoor pay to win with the addition of gold purchases. But the key point is that the gold purchases are wrong, not the loot distribution system itself.
Allowed, yes.
This is indeed Silly… in the first Scenario. Instead of buying gold he would buy a leveling service that has existed since Vanilla. Then he would pay another service to raid for him. All it does is change what his money is going to specifically.
I always wondered where people get the gold to bid thousands on items in GDKP BWL runs, this thread has enlightened me a bit haha
I mean those are definitely higher risk services, I think he has a point in that the less resistance there is to bad behavior, the more likely it is to occur.
GDKP runs are commonly used to ‘launder’ massive quantities of gold acquired via botting and gold selling.
so does any other large transaction between players. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t exist.
If your problem is with RMT, Blizzard should ban those people. It’s not the player’s job.
