GDKP is a symptom of a deeper problem

Before anything else, I never ran a single GDKP run and I only have about 5k in the bank… I’m far from a whale. The real problem is bots/Gold selling and gold buying. Blizzard need to address this problem. Gold buyers get zero penalty 99% of the time, and when they get caught, they get banned for a few days. GDKP is only a symptom of the large amount of gold circulating that was created by bots/gold sellers. It might even be too late to fix at this point.

Not sure it is a good suggestion, but my recommendation would be to have a « fresh » server where transfers are allowed but with a maximum of like 3-5k gold per account. But this only has a chance to work if blizz fix the real problem, bots, gold buyer and gold sellers. Sanctions for gold buying should be a lot more severe. Otherwise, every fresh server will just be transformed into a botting mess gold selling simulator pay to win server.

Edit: Just to clarify, I know GDKP were a thing back in OG WOTLK, but good buying wasn’t as present as it is now. To be honest, I’m not against GDKP, it’s a fair loot system. But the combination of GDKP and the HUGE amount of bots / gold selling and buying in transforming this game to a pay-to-win mode. It’s not one or the other, it’s the combinaison. In an hypothetical world where gold selling isn’t a thing, I have nothing against GDKP, it’s fair and square.

One or the other has to be stopped, or it’s pay to win. I wish that the one that is stopped is the gold buying / selling.

Yeah, RMT is one Problem.
Another is the attitude of some players, not wanting to do something for their gear.
Why should i learn the bosses and their mechanics when i’m able to simply buy the gear and go afk while others are fighting for me.
I’ll never unterstand this, why do you play the game if you’re not actually playing the game?

(Same btw with Dungeon Boosting before blizz nerfed it.)

Yeah I agree with you, but how do these players who refuse to play the game get so much gold that they can buy their way to BIS? Pretty sure they buy gold… just an assumption

People in GDKP’s are killing the same bosses as anyone else.

Cmon man lol they get massively carried.

The argument that the bosses are so easy people can be carried doesn’t really change anything.

Anyway, I was not asking for GDKP ban, I don’t think GDKP is the problem. Gold selling/buying is.

RMT and GDKPs are two peas in a pod. If you support GDKPs then you support pay to win.

Eh… the “deeper” problem are people. Sadly as long as people provide a market for purchasing it, and people provide the labor to farm the gold, the problem will remain. People can be a real cancer at times sadly.

I agree, but I believe one is causing the other… or feeding in to the other. Blizzard need to address gold selling and buying more seriously.

Lol your logic is questionable at best

Only if they let you in.

“DPS LF GDKP”
“Link your logs”
“I don’t have logs”
“Okay, you can come in as a pure buyer”

It appears that the most popular runs are split between carriers and carries. At least, that’s what I’ve experienced on Bene before bouncing off that cesspool.

It’s true. Blizzard ignores many of the worst gold buyers and sellers because they know how to wash their money. If blizzard read reports and followed the gold to reported characters I doubt we would be talking about this issue.

Reports currently do nothing to notorious gold buyers and sellers moving >100k a week. It’s a joke.

I started getting into gdkps when I leveled another paladin. With my main as ret and my alt as ret I was able to link my mains logs from raiding with my guild and be accepted.

Sorry to break your heart but pure buyers still have to learn the mechanics and play their class. You cannot carry pure buyers in greens/blues in sunwell. Sunwell still requires a strict vetting check and meeting strict dps/healing checks on bosses. If you are unable to meet it you will not get in and it doesn’t matter if you have 1 million gold. Also I’ve seen trash players in full t6 who can’t carry their weight too in gdkps and they weren’t even considered pure buyers. Believe it or not there are bad players even with t6 gear who can’t play their class to the fullest. Currently pressing 2-3 buttons and dying to easy mechanics is still difficult for a lot of players in wow.

This is true for sunwell. Bringing pure buyers through sunwell is extremely rare. At least until the 30th when it’s nerfed into the ground.

At least Diablo Immortal is honest about what it is. The lies and hypocrisy in this community are disgusting. Classic WoW is pay to win, and GDKPs make it so.

Yeah… Logs were still required.

The players did everything they could to trash Classic. They largely succeeded.

GDKP is a symptom of the playerbase.

The arguments I always see in favor of GDKP are basically “I have no interest in helping anyone and I don’t care about anyone that I play the game with, GDKP guarantees that I get something out of the raid”.

It’s exactly what a certain kind of person wants; there is no community involved, only transactions, and it treats all other players as disposable while each player is as selfish as possible.

RMT makes it worse, but the playerbase is the problem.

Yeah because there were totally people jumping at the opportunity to carry people through raids they didn’t need anything from back in the day
