Terrible decision, dad of 2 here a majority of the time I’m “playing” I got my kids so I do a lot of summons for gold. No real friends playing sod atm so I rely on gdkps to get a solid group( I’ve tried pug Ms<os but there toxic and usually don’t even manage to fully clear this VERY easy content. However with gdkp I get 7/7 ez and in and out in 40 mins not 2 hours and I either get loot or gold so a win win
If you care about the RMT issue focus on bots not banning an activity that some of us farmed hard to be able to do.
You just killed all my alts now seeing as no way in hell I can raid on 3-4 toons at 2 hour raids each.

Long before gdkps I remember I won an item and someone would whisper me asking to buy it. That’s coming back thanks to this decision as well as a huge gate keeping for groups now cuz no one wants to take a fresh toon now
RMT is just gonna be real money done over discord now tbh you just created an even more toxic atmosphere

They don’t even do that to gold buyers, all they get is a 2 weeks slap on the wrist, why it should be any different with GDKP users?

So what you’re telling me is you have the ability to catch bots and goldsellers trading their gold around but instead of banning them (Since they pay that juicy monthly sub) you’re going after people using their gold in game as they see fit?
You sort of outted that you have the ability to catch these people and ban en masse but don’t because they’re paying a sub.

Please take the next step and ban all BoE gear. It gives an unfair advantage to people with gold and incentivizes RMT. Also please ban alchemy because people buy gold to get an in-game advantage. Let’s also make mounts free and anything else that costs a large amount of gold. Absolutely ridiculous that blizzard and some people in this thread thinks that GDKP is the biggest driver of buying gold.

Wow surely they couldn’t detect that and restrict that as well if it becomes common enough to have the same impact as GDKP.

It’s not Pay To Win, they’re playing the game and spending their gold in game on a goods and service in game. They’re, you know, using the RP aspect of the RPG this is supposed to be.

Underrated post.
Also like to add a disclaimer, former GDKP admin, never RMT’d.
GDKP links skilled, often highly motivated performance oriented players with the regular playerbase and often provides them a means to navigate through difficult content without being forced to commit to a regimented raid schedule + all the other associated drama that goes with being a part of a guild.
I’ve always supported GDKP because it offers a curated drop in, drop out experience with raiding that doesn’t penalize you because of scheduling or other similar issues.
Womp womp join a guild is a horrible take and just shows that people don’t really understand some of the bigger picture issues within the community that has caused GDKP’s to flourish within WotLK and SoD.
With this change I have a feeling SoD phase 2 may have some serious player retention issues simply due to this entire subsection of the community being told to stick it where the sun don’t shine.
