GDKP ban is simply not enforceable

Ignoring the tone-deaf draconian nature of the ban, the enforcement will be impossible without destroying the game along with it. Here are just a few workarounds (depending on how they try to enforce).

  1. Simply use a different currency. Similar to what happened with Stone of Jordans in Diablo 2. We can use the new profession materials they mentioned in the phase 2 preview. In later phases, Arcane Crystals, Flasks, etc. Gold can be swapped out for another community-selected item (which can be purchased with gold).
  2. Perform the gold trades outside of raid. Hosts will have a second account with a character in town and when someone wins a bid they simply log on a character in town, trade the gold, and get awarded the item in raid.
  3. Pre-sell the items. Similar to the above, just have a pre-arranged sale and do the trades before, during, or after the raid.
  4. Sell raid spots. Instead of items, pre-sell raid spots. This is common in retail.
  5. If gold trading is what they monitor, don’t trade gold. Simply post worthless items on the AH for the sale price and have them purchase it. Then, do the reverse for gold distribution.
  6. Sell “rolls” so that a person just has to keep buying “rolls” until they win the item.
  7. So many other options, because the community is more clever than you’re giving us credit for.

Banning GDKP is not a solution, nor is it enforceable.

Thank god there’s a new GDKP post, I was worried there would be too few.

There will always be ways around things when there is a demand. I think it will definitely see a decline though. I would imagine it is a reportable offence now to advertise it in chat.

I think the overall results will be positive such as a decline even if slight in gold farmers, fewer less deserving players with gear, ect.

There will also be some negatives though such as carries quitting until the next phase after getting full BiS, raids having more strict requirements in GS and logs so they can avoid carrying players, and likely players getting caught in ban waves from simply trading gold or selling items off the AH while they smooth the warden system out.

Wait till they put out the additional info. Any workaround you have thought of, has likely already been thought of by the devs.

You’ll just have to wait and see.

Dont worry we will be reporting all gdkp activity to help them ban and enforce it. This includes moles on gdkp discords and going undercover in raids to report.

It will not be a safe activity and your account will always be at risk. Seethe lmao

adorable, the idea of you spamming screenshots of random discords to an email address that has never once been viewed by a human is so funny to me

“i’m doing my part guys”

Its easy enough to do so why not? If my 1 min of time can potentially destroy the gold items and account of gold buyers i think thats hilarious actually

You’re in denial. They can enforce it, and will. Will there be ways around it? Yep! But these actions will greatly reduce the number of GDKP’s, which is their intent.

Inb4 we see a QQ thread in a month about “how could they possibly ban me for this?!?”

I think this epitomizes the hilarity of this whole experiment. GDKPs are being considered, for the moment, to be “against the spirit of Vanilla” because of how it commodifies raiding, attracts nefarious secondary and tertiary effects and actors, and moves us away from the nostalgia of 20yrs ago.

So in response, they ban GDKP and now you have people going out of their way to become GDKP hunters just to make use of flimsy evidence and automated bans to target the evil doers. Old monster out, new monster in, except the new monster is a legion of insufferable moral scolds.

And none of it is in the spirit or nostalgia of Vanilla.

Well high bids in GDKP cause drama now. All it will take is for someone to get mad and then report the whole raid or the leader. It can easily be done and yes Blizzard is handing out the suspensions. Except now, the suspensions would be traced to the organizers of GDKP’s. Having run a lot in GDKP’s, I can see this happening. Even within GDKP’s, the “whales” are accused of RWT. You might can do this if everyone in GDKP is someone you really know. But how well do you really “know” them. I could go through raid members and tell you exactly who bought gold. And now, someone will report them. You won’t be able to pick up randoms for any “secret” form of GDKP.

A way to enforce this is to only allow loot rolls when the item drops. That would stop ppl from needing on items to sell. Once it has been picked up, there is no trading.

“only allow rolls” you sound like a grey parser.

Nothing to do with parsing. I saw players in GDKP’s roll on items they couldn’t equip. One even “sold” items at the end of the raid. Greed within the group. Just like going to the honor vendors. You buy gear for your class. Or weapons for your class. You should only be able to roll items for your class group (example cloth for wages, mages, priests). (Leather for druids, rouges) I was in this one GDKP where someone kept running up bids and then would sell the items to the bidder. I actually bought the walking stick from someone in the raid for 60 gold and he didn’t even need it. Someone bid almost when bid closed and I didn’t see his 1 gold increment because the addon screwed up or something. And don’t think that for 1 second, players weren’t depending on RWT to get gold for runs. Example, one player had to go to “mail box” at end of raid because something he really wanted dropped. Or say 2 or 3 friends in raid would “combine” their gold to get an item. I could identify the whales in the runs.

Taking it from someone that has had 2 suspensions for RWT, I know that a lot of GDKP whales bought gold. There will be people within some of the new forms of GDKP that will report. Trust me, I know. It was a terrible system and I don’t expect any more suspensions now that it’s gone.

makes sense.

Your faith in blizzard devs is so absurd and misplaced it’s actually hilarious.

The really funny part is that GDKP were literally created in vanilla…

Look… review the facts… and read between the lines

  1. Blizzard has been working with AI
  2. They say phase 2 botting will be “hopefully better” with their “new system”
  3. they are testing no GDKPs

If you think they cant solve people from doing GDKPs… good luck…

that’s what I thought… because Blue was not clear of how this new/altered system was suppose to work… if the pop up window that offered the Greed, Need and Bid options… is still intact, then nothing changed and we’re left just reporting players like we use to.

Cant trade gold inside raid and make raid drop items only tradeable in raid. Ez

You realize they literally can see every transaction your character makes with what character each trade went to, and look at everything they did also.

Every single action, a step your character takes, a trade, a jump, an AH purchase, mail, everything is logged and they can look at it all.

This reminds me of the people that try and hide what they did by not saying who messed up in a raid or deny they were standing somewhere they shouldn’t have been, and you just look at the logs and show them exactly where they were, what they were casting and when they took the damage.

the game tracks everything. They only have to hit a handful of big named GDKP people with permabans to kill 99% of all GDKP activity.

All they have to do is flag a few accounts for review using some database software and then have a person review it. If they actually do it, that is a question, but it is easily enforceable.
