GDKP Ban Explained

Happy launch day, everyone! I am returning to the game after being gone for years and am very excited. However, I see a lot of uproar regarding GDKP being banned. Can someone ELI5 how this was being abused and why it’s such a big deal? Thanks!

people who play this game to feel good about themselves hate the perceived fact that they think everyone is swiping and buying gold to get the gear that they think only someone as important and good at the game as them deserve. The reality is though that most people who GDKP don’t buy gold and they just do GDKP because its the best loot system that brings meaning to the entire game for 5+ years and running.

Can’t buy gear anymore so people are sad. You also lose the players that enjoy Gdkps. Its either good or bad depending on what bench you sit on.

RMT bad, GDKP good. Buy gold to do GDKP. Lie about buying gold.

Found the gold buyer

win-win imo, we dont want the players who want to gdkp because they are not playing the game the way it was designed, as a guild/community.

you found the guy who you think has bought gold but actually never has and loves GDKP until the end of time. Thanks!

remember that when you cant field a group for MC because no one needs gear from there anymore. I am correct on GDKP, the whiners are wrong. They will just disappear when the game dies without GDKP anyway so no point in arguing with them

no1 needs a thunderfury?

lolololol

Yah no. GDKP perpetuates an already broken economic system and encourages gold buying while also serving as an extremely effective laundering tool for ‘dirty gold’. It isn’t coming back.

enjoy chasing your last binding as you take 2 hours to fill a group of only 25 people in blues

25 people in blues can do MC. The bosses are target dummies.

you aren’t correct on gdkp, the most soulless loot system does not foster comradery, people leave the game when there is no new content left to play regardless of whether they are getting paid to continue and clock in

can a group do it with 25 in blues? maybe

can your average pug of 25 in blues do it? No

keep moving the goalposts and making wild assumptions

gold received from GDKP can be used on alts, not just your mains endgame loot. This is the main reason it keeps the game alive as a whole

no goal posts being moved. your arguments come from theoretical fantasy land while mine come from the reality of human incentive and lived experience.

you could then argue that alts without excessive gold from gdkp would keep the game alive longer by virtue of having to farm that gold, it’s an insane argument

i have no idea what youre trying to say here, try again i guess?
