i don’t do it with old world flight either.
i have a keybind on my mouse which i hit to move forward.
i only need to steer.
kind of like driving an automatic

I have recently had my attention drawn to Caligula who apparently had Pontius Pilate kill himself, made his horse a Senator, rode said horse across a river via a bridge made of boats and was later was castrated to death by multiple swords from his own Bodyguard whom he called effeminate and whose wives he harassed…
Makes me imagine his shameful undignified death happening while he was wearing his full royal Armor(I.E. while he was in the height of his arrogance) with a speechlessly outraged expression of pain and rage(over someone daring to shamefully and fatally castrate he who is all the Gods at once in his own mind) as it happens.
As for the ordering of Pontius Pilate to kill himself: I like to imagine it being for the simple reason that Caligula believed himself to be all the Gods at once and since Pilate killed someone who claimed to be the son of one of the Gods… Needless to say it would be considered a personal insult to Caligula just as killing Hercules(son of Zeus I.E another God which Caligula would dare to identify himself as) would be.
