How hard is it to actually get first frame inputs post-GCD?
If you buffer in an action slightly before the GCD is over, does that automatically run the action first frame post-GCD?
Or do you nerds mash the crap out of your keys?
When I play, I wait until the GCD is visually over by watching the action bar. Only when it is over or nearly over do I start to queue my next action. I wonder if this is why my dps is gray garbage making me want to quit the damn game.
Another question would be - if you get a first frame input as a hunter on an ability like explosive shot, does that interrupt white damage?
This is probably best handled by your spell queue window. Whether it runs “first frame” is probably down to your client’s performance and ping, but otherwise it does buffer how you suggested. Mine is usually set to 200 or 300 ms (with a few macros that set it to 0) because that’s what I’ve found comfortable after experimenting. This means that I can press a spell to cast hypothetically 300ms before my GCD or current cast is finished and the game will queue it up to cast ASAP as soon as I’m free to use it. A spell queue window of 0 will effectively disable this behavior.
Adjust it via a chat command or macro:
/console SpellQueueWindow 300
Just replace 300 with your desired tolerance in milliseconds.
I also use a Weakaura to keep my GCD visible near my character so I don’t have to stare at action bars, but that’s personal preference. You can likely find or make a WA that does this with an indicator for when your spell queue window is active.
Do you trap weave?
Have high uptime on serpent sting?
Serpent sting uptime should be 90%+ on most bosses.
I only glanced at some of your logs but your serpent sting damage seemed really low. Are you using the max rank of spells?
Do you use the rank 4 3 4 lock and load explosive shot? (This is a dps increase to do, so if not doing it now i recommend doing so)
Do you send your pet in and manually control it to keep it alive? (Also make sure growl is off, unless doing something like mimiron bomb bot soaking, as pet globals on growl is a dps loss)
If you really want detailed advice on how to improve your performance the hunter discord has a spot specifically for people to look at your logs and point out spots to improve in.
good post. for people messing with it for pvp, watch out, putting it too low can screw you pretty badly in pve where you’re spamming the same button like 10,000 times
