Garrison map a Dungeon map?

Why is my garrison map now a dungeon map? makes trying to find next steps a pain.

Sounds like an UI issue. Try logging out and back into the game fully. If that doesn’t fix it, try a full UI reset.

I’ve reset everything and still no go. while in my garrison no characters show up on the map no quests etc. it does show in the minimap and it’s only since the 8.3 that it’s this way. I’ve disabled all addons then did the reset of both system and interface and it’s still the same. I do use Zygor and it can’t find the characters yes I’ve checked with them and has something to do with the 8.3 and the way it pulls the garrison map.

I’m in my garrison right now. The map … looks the same as it ever did?

Neither are a proper UI reset
Resetting the WoW User Interface - Blizzard Support

I’ve had no issues with the Garrison map. All my characters have no issues. That’s older characters that I’ve had for years and newer characters that just opened their garrison.

it’s almost like since the new update there’s no coordinates inside the garrison. Treating it more like an instance than part of the regular map.

Coordinates?

I don’t think that’s a part of the standard UI.

They aren’t.

I don’t remember ever having coordinates inside the garrison. I use TomTom and I’m not sure it ever gave them for the garrison.

Edit:
The Garrison is an instanced area, like dungeons and scenarios. It’s not actually part of the regular map system. That may be why addons don’t give coordinates in them.

Maybe Dehunter is referring to how you have another precision level while you’re in your garrison?

It’s standard to cities and the garrison… I think that’s been around since 1.0.

The garrison is also phased, once you start construction. Maybe that’s what Dehunter’s referring to regarding the coordinates? Maybe they’re trying to find a quest in the garrison, from outside the garrison?

It’s not phased. It’s instanced. That’s why you can have issues walking in to or hearthing to your garrison.

This is the informaion they put up …

In 8.3 Blizzard changed all garrisons to be instanced zones and Blizzard does not allow arrows to work in instanced zones. You will not be able to get any arrow to work while inside the garrison unfortunately, and there is nothing we can do to work around that.

Me…
I understand the arrows not working but couldn’t you do like in a dungeon and place markers where about to find someone or give directions in text? I know it’s a lot to update. But as is it is confusing. I have been going outside the garrison to find the next spot and tried to estimate with the distance and the way it’s pointing before i go into it but he’s right about it being a pain.

Their reply again…
With garrisons that is not possible. There are 3 basic layouts to the garrisons depending on what level the garrison is. On top of that the garrisons are very customizable for what buildings are where and that can also change NPC locations.

so apparently something changed in the patch you used to be able to know i accepted this quest when i go to the flight map it could let me know where i was going. with the new system i now have to fly to another location so it can grab the information of where to go. It wasn’t like that before patch 8.3.

Hello Dehunter,

It sounds like what you’re looking for is the next quest encounter. Can you identify which quest you’re on, or what you’re looking for? And which level of garrison you’re on?

Blizzard didn’t put up that information. That’s from your addon’s site. The information is incorrect. Garrisons have always been instanced. It’s not new. That is why when there are issues with the instance servers you can’t get to your garrison.

any of the dailies i have to open the map and find it on the open map then work out which one i want to go to by checking each zone and then find the closest on the flight map. It’s not that hard once you start doing it but it used to allow it to be done inside the garrison automatically.

Ahh.

Those things are semi-static. For example, the trading post daily will be wherever you’ve placed your trading post. The fishing post exists in one location only.

You could try enabling ā€œtrack trivial questsā€, if that’s applicable to you.

Once you have a general idea where the different buildings are, it should be straightforward.

Thanks i do have that checked  and i’m working it out just decided i wanted to finish up earlier quests I used a character boost on another character so going through the routine getting most things done in lunarfall.

they say in 8.3 apparently inside the garrison where it could place an arrow for what direction to leave the garrison (on a flying mount) can’t be done anymore because arrows apparently aren’t allowed inside of instances but was before? so yeah i’m just a bit confused. I leave and it works but it used to work before … sigh  oh well such is life thanks for the feedback. I asked them the question of what has changed because it’s always been an instance.

the problem i have is my vision is a bit blurry and when i’m trying to find a specific character i suck at names so reading all the names isn’t as easy as following an arrow that lets me get to them faster

Ahhh. I can definitely see the change frustrating.

You’ve tried turning on ā€˜large nameplates’ and have adjusted your game resolution? I understand those aren’t fixes per se, but hopefully they can help a little.

Thanks for the help  i’ll get there no big deal just a bit frustrating because I can’t see how things have changed. But such is life.

Thanks again

Well, it is instanced, technically. It’s how all players’ garrisons can exist in the same physical space in the game world.
