On first use, the Garrison Hearthstone was turned into a toy, but it does not work. Trying to use the toy results in a “You can’t do that right now” no matter where I’m standing. The Admiral’s Compass still works, but a 4 hour cooldown is ridiculous. Also, the Dalaran Hearthstone as a toy appears to work fine after becoming a toy.
Please fix this; I use my Garrison very often and not being able to hearth to it is a problem.
Make me shake my head in disbelief - do they like make the change and then not bother to see if clicking it works?
I was able to click on it while it was in the toy box, but I can’t move it back to my bags. I agree, this is a STUPID change.
You can’t put a toy one added to your collection into you bags. Why do you want to do that?
You can drag the toy to one of your actionbar spots if you are trying to make it quicker to click on.
I only use it about once per week so it made the most sense to have it in my bags and not on my action bars. And now I have to search through my toy collection to find it…
Did some testing, discovered the following:
the Garrison Hearthstone does not work on any of my characters on any realm EXCEPT the one dracthyr evoker I made; for some reason, his does work (all addons I normally use were enabled, so I don’t see how it could be any of them)
I have tried exiting and restarting the game, rebooting, reloading the UI, disabling all addons, clearing Blizzard’s cache folder (probably not related, but I’m flailing here), trying to use the GH in the toy window and in the toolbars, and nothing works; always the same “You can’t do that right now” red error text no matter what I try.
If there are any devs - or anyone else with this problem who’s found a fix - reading this, I would appreciate any assistance you can give. I’ve had to sacrifice my standard Hearthstone to Stonefang Outpost, which is all I can manage.
Well no, you don’t. I have a couple of toys on an action bar - my Sands toy to bring on the sunshine, my Katy’s Stampwhistle for mail and so on. Now that they are toys, the same can be done for the hearthstones.
Still would be good if the Garrison one worked of course. If nothing else, just cancel the damned toy and put the Hearthstone back in our bags.
At this point, I don’t care about a single bag slot if this is what results. I need that functionality more than any other toy (or even hearthstone) back.
So, yeah. I agree. Bring back something that works.
Mine was bugged until I dragged the Previous hearthstone I was using off my hot-bar and grabbed a new one from the toys tab. works fine after that.
So what I found was on my first character to click on the garrison and dalaran stones I had on the hotbar turned them into the toys. The Dalaran hotbar icon changed to the toy but the garrison one I had to re-drag out from the toy menu and place on my hotbar where the last one was. After that, on all my alts, both hotbar icons were working fine.
Previously both hotbar icons were from the stones in my bags. So one auto changed the other I had to re-drag out and replace the icon.
UPDATE: the issue is not resolved (nor has it changed), but I did get some… interesting… feedback from a Blizzard GM. And it makes no sense.
According to one going by Uridetz, it appears my garrison starter quests were never started or completed, and that would be why the Garrison HS does not function. So, basically, my fully upgraded and up-until-patch-10.1.5 functioning garrison does not exist according to their end. That’s… troubling.
Some time ago (in years), one of the starter quests called 'What We Got" re-appeared over the NPC Gazlowe’s head inside the main building. In the interest of not breaking anything I opted to ignore doing it again, and up until this last patch, everything seemed fine. After hearing what I did from Uridetz, I re-acquired the quest and attempted to do it, but 2 of the 3 steps can’t be completed: I can talk to Skaggit to “release the peons”, but even tho he wanders away with some dialog, the objective stays undone at “0/1”. The other objective, to speak to Senior Peon II, is impossible because he stands within the main building (next to where Skaggit is) with no dialog options at all - I can select / target him, but nothing else. So I’m stuck on that front, too.
Seems like Blizzard should be able to mark all these quests as “done” since I can prove quite easily that my garrison very much exists. I just hope that both a resolution comes soon, and that I don’t lose anything (like the AH I went thru unlocking), but I have yet to hear back from Uridetz or anyone else after explaining all this.

Thanks for sharing BigOlaf. I have the same issue. Most of my toons seem good so far, but there is one toon that the garrison hearthstone doesn’t work. When I try to use it, it keeps saying “you can’t do that right now.”
If you (BigOlaf) or anyone else finds anything that can fix the issue, plz report back here.
I am not sure if we can set our normal hearth to the WoD Garrison, so I was just thinking of setting my hearth to a camp nearby it for the time being.
Buggiest expac of all time and it’s not even close. It’s great we are finally getting patches on time but they’re filled with bugs and balance problems.
For any interested, this is still an issue and many ongoing conversations with Blizzard support on it are still taking place. Once it get fixed - or if it ends up unsolvable - I will update this.
Well for now it might just make it quicker to disconnect…
Funny, I re-subbed recently and sat here poking garrison hearth and /reloading and rebooting and relogging.
-my shipyard hearth worked in one click, turned into a toy, disappeared from bags, left me at shipyard.
-garrison hearth was like a painted rock, or maybe one of those boxes that the Forsaken gave to the Aiel to push the red dot until they died.

-heyyy… Dalaran hearth worked fine, but didn’t disappear from my bag. Deleted that after seeing it in my toy box.
…oh, that shipyard compas has a 4 hour cooldown… Chromie hearth, run to Wizard’s tower, portal to Draenor, 10 minute grypon ride… …flight paths to garrison work? I have all these bags and crates of salvage to unload…
Just saw this last post, if unsolvable maybe just redirect it to shipyard for everyone, leave it’s cooldown short, and drop a flight point on the top of the steps to bring into garrison. (Seems about like flight from goldshire to stormwind. :))
I’m sure it’s solveable though. Probably just a typo in the code.
I am also experiencing this problem and it’s quite frustrating. The item worked just fine before they turned it into a toy. But now I just get the error, “you can’t do that right now”. It doesn’t matter if the item is in my toybox or on my action bars.
Well, this is bad… some progress has been made on the issue for me, but the whole thing is not fixed yet.
Unfortunately, apparently there is a “maximum amount of replies” limitation on trouble tickets, as that’s what the website told me when I tried to respond with the latest update to the Blizzard individuals I was speaking to (Siedess, for one). I can’t reply, I can’t open a new ticket, and any attempt to do anything else redirects me to this bug report forum instead of the ticket location I created the initial one in.
So, no way to reply, and now they’re about to close the ticket as “solved” when it isn’t.
Anyone got any ideas? I don’t wanna leave this partly done, especially after finally starting to get somewhere…
Unfortunately, I have no advice regarding the reply limit on your ticket.
But have you checked the hearthstones today? Mine seems to be working now.
I also put in a ticket because I was experiencing this bug (with both Garrison and Dalaran hearthstones). Today, both appear to be working.
I’m wondering if they did something with today’s maintenance. Because as of yesterday, my main (who has been my main since WoTLK), could not use either stone. And she had most definitely done the intro quests for WoD and Legion.
[Oddly, another character who never did the WoD intro was previously able to use the Garrison Hearthstone, though it dropped her in the middle of the field in Shadowmoon Valley with no Garrison.]
Apart from those two, it was a crapshoot as to which of my characters could use either stone, hence the ticket.
But as of today, all of my characters that did the intro quests for WoD and Legion can now use those stones. The one character who was dropped in the middle of the field cannot as of today.
