I’m more concerned with mechanics. As a Tank often I just leave Gamma Web mechanic dungeons at the start. Many people would just leave and avoid the annoying dungeons. The problem is Blizz designs terrible mechanics making the dungeons flat out rage inducing.
Gamma dungeons should have some challenges while also being fun. I don’t think Blizz knows what that looks like. Like most people I rather take a 30 min deserster debuff than suffer an annoying mechanic. Or people will just do the easiest one.
I think it’s a great system. It allows me to keep myself geared without needing to Raid. So I could continue to run Dungeons. – Hard to tank if everyone is out-gearing you by 50 average item levels. ((DPS be like “look at me; look at me! …I am the tank now.”))
So yes, catchup mechanics that allow you to fully catchup all of your gear (as opposed to a few pieces as was the case in OG Wrath) is great.
But. For the love of all the gods. PLEASE MAKE THESE DUNGEONS FUN. Alpha was meh, Beta was cancer. Gamma was ’ '.
I don’t think they should… justice points is a good system cuz it naturally implemented the catch up gear…
For example all valor points gear which is already raid level in phase 1 will cost justice points when firelands comes out
Old Kingdom.
Herald Volazj - it’s possible to get wrapped right at the beginning of the insanity phase. If you aren’t a Warlock or a Hunter this means instagib.
Utgarde.
Getting rooted, stunned in ice - during unavoidables like the King Ymiron fight. Equally as stupid.
Both of these issues are somewhat rare, and I believe that they can be ironed out moving forward along with some annoyances - like the increased size in HoS/HoL making it difficult to loot corpses. But neither of these makes the dungeons inherently impossible or overly difficult.
People are just lazy and want easy-mode epics.
Far as web wrap dropping aggro? I’ve never had that issue. Sounds to me like the tank wasn’t generating enough TPS to maintain aggro while webbed. (I have an 80 Prot Pal and Prot Warr).
Personally the way I think it should play out here is give us the nerfed heroics early on, and then introduce the unnerfed versions of the heroics later as the “gamma” types. by that point those of us geared won’t see it being super difficult and might see a moderate challenge while still remaining fairly quick, while at the same time making it alt friendly. Cata as a whole did a better job with the catch up up mechanics as a whole though.
They actually fixed this, the ice doesn’t hurt you during Ymiron’s stuns anymore.
It’s no longer a problem, but for all of phase 2 when titan rune dungeons were first released, web wraps dropped threat. If the tank got web wrapped while Anub was casting Pound, he would instantly turn around and one shot the group. The mobs at the start could also easily insta-gib you in the split second threat drop (because you have to be stacked in melee to break webs fast). They fixed this, and the stunned-in-ice issue, with the release of beta. But they left these glaring issues for entire phases before fixing them. Frustrating.
You can see the changes on July 6th and 11th, 2023. They also made the loa blood healing one way less annoying at some point.
This was never an issue for me, even as DPS. Wait times were never more than 5-10 min. I also started seeing familiar faces in subsequent runs and made a few friends. Almost like that “server community” classic always gets hyped up for. So, not being linked to NA was actually a good thing. (Plus the whole latency issue)
Now what did kill queues overnight? SoD. Gammas went from “estimated wait time: 4 min” to not displaying an estimated time at all because they weren’t happening.
just don’t add the friggin horrid web wrap bs
ever again. you almost have to move in a tight blob formation bc you can be wrapped miles away and ppl have tunnel vision every time
and it’s just a bad affix, the rest was just ok.
